Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Wearology on Mar 11, 2019 19:16:17 GMT 1, If you are in NY you have to go to the Whitney to see the Warhol Retrospective NOT for the Soup Cans, Cows or Mao's - but you have to experience his huge experimental abstract paintings that Andy created by using camouflage, magical chemical / dust paints and the combination of screen print techniques mixed with paint. They have canvases that are over 50 feet wide by 20 feet high that will blow your freakin mind.

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Criminal Mischief on Mar 13, 2022 22:27:33 GMT 1, For starters you'd enjoy spending a whole afternoon gallery-hopping in Chelsea. Between 19th St and 29th Street and 10th and 11th Ave is the biggest concentrations of galleries in New York. And if you go specifically on a Friday, and you're not all arted out by the evening, you can then head to the Whitney Museum nearby which is open late and Pay What You Wish 7-10pm (Fridays only) and will have the Whitney Biennial open by then.
Pro tip: downloading the See Saw app is the easiest way to keep track of all of the art shows in the city. You can search by neighborhood, nearby, opening this week, or closing this week. You can also select the ones you want to see and it automatically adds them to a map, making it super easy to get around. Totally free. Game changer.
ny.eater.com/ is always good to follow for restaurant recommendations (and cheap eats ny.eater.com/maps/best-inexpensive-affordable-restaurants-food-nyc)
Avoid Times Sq. unless you're going to the theater, a protest, or checking out the Midnight Moment, which is a widely unknown public art project where all of the screens display artwork for 1-minute at the stroke of midnight. Sometimes it's pretty sick. In the past it's featured people like JR and Tracey Emin, and the one up for the month of march is particularly cool and makes the whole of Times Sq look like a computer glitch.
Depending on how long you're staying in New York, if you're looking to get away for a day Dia:Beacon (a museum in Upstate New York in an old Nabisco factory) and Storm King Art Center (sculpture garden) are both pretty great.

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by zoart on Mar 14, 2022 18:46:17 GMT 1, NY -
trainers - flight club 812 broadway dinner - gramercy tavern, get whatever wine/beer/cider pairing they are doing, if you go for lunch get the burger, its not on the menu but its awesome Coffee - Stumptown, there is one of the lobby of the ace hotel and another one by Washington Square Park something to do - sleep no more at the McKitrick (sp)
MIA
dinner - what are you into, I could go on for a long time about food. art - yes, wynwood is great, but its like street art disney land. i suppose if you have never been, go. nearly all the galleries have moved out of the area. there are some real treasures downtown, little river. its spread out in pockets now. mindy solamen (sp) is a favorite of mine but outside the norm of this board. primary flight has a good program. real art - NM MOCA is a nice, easy to enjoy venue with a nice outside area to grab food, enjoy the day coffee - panther stuff to do - lots of art folks call Miami home now in addition to the local crowd that was here. they all largely hang out together, in a few groups. so follow instagram and you will see something popping, go and have a blast. the beach - dont drink here for the most part, its stupid expensive. ocean drive is a mess, but much like wynwood if you havent gone before, its worth the trip. if you are into the club thing there are both underground and table service choices. im personally a north beach kinda guy, much more relaxed, outdoor restaurants, locals.

For food, the best meal I have had in New York in ages is at the four horsemen in Brooklyn, if you are lucky, you might bump into its owner (LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy).
Other food: Kiki's Tavern is great, looks like a chinese restaurant, is actually greek. Mr Taka Ramen is pretty damn good as well. Essex Market has some great food options.
Art wise, plenty of invader's knocking around, as well as 4 or 5 Haring Murals still surviving. The one in the LGTBQ+ center is quite something. There is a d*face at Lafayette and Broome, and a trip to Williamsburg would be advisable for a ton of other murals.

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Jules Leotard on Mar 16, 2022 15:31:34 GMT 1, Last night I dreamt I went to New York and spent so long at the Halal food cart that I missed out on lots of art... ๐๐๐ I hope in your dream, as the Master of the Cart was putting the finishing touches on your wrap, he picked up his red sauce bottle, looked you in the eye and said, "Extra hot sauce?" You replied in the affirmative.
I am usually not an extra hot sauce person. At the cart...I am an extra hot sauce person.
You then proceeded with your yellow bag across the street to the metal tables, sat down, kept your head low, and devoured the wrap like some sort of primal animal - not looking up as the wrap oozed out across your hands in every direction and you were there, knowing that there weren't enough napkins in all of NYC to clean up this mess, but you were okay with that.
