Maybe I'll get lucky and get selected (and be able to lend it to a local museum here in Charlotte NC so all can see it!!!)
I didn't even try to pick one of the large prints. First off, finding $25k would be difficult but finding $45k would be impossible. Secondly, I assume the large ones will go to big-wigs and galleries and such. I am hoping the 200 small ones will make it to us little collectors...
One can always dream!!! These pieces make me think of getting up really close to a Paul Signat and this is what you'd be looking at...

Now that the process is over, for the ones that entered, which were your fav's? I went 144 (reminds me of a beach), 142 (reminds me of a tree in the middle of a field) and 104 (I just like the color combos).

Managed to make it along a couple of weeks ago before putting in my application. Considering I have pretty much zero chance of getting picked, they were brilliant and chatted for ages, taking a few of the pieces that I liked off the wall to hang on their own and have a look up close at the front and back. Really cool to see them all up and only had a quick look at the large pieces as out of my price range.

This was my favourite and felt more like a landscape/nature similar to the blossoms.

I went for one of the smaller ones because it is still $25k and probably don't have a chance. But I REALLY would absolutely love to have one of these on my wall (specifically the gorgeous PV144 "Fantastic Veil") or hopefully be able to loan it to my city's museum of modern art if they wanted to hang it to show everyone in Charlotte what a Hirst looks like in person.
I think in all reality the main thing that could help anyone be selected is to pick one of the prints that others don't like. I tried to stay away from the really pretty blue ones that stand out at first because I figured everyone would go for those...

I couldn't guess how many people went for the large edition...a lot less than those that went for the small edition solely on the $50k price tag. I would assume more galleries would have gone for the larger ones, so if Heni is looking to put these in the homes of collectors, you probably have a pretty good chance. I think it's perfectly reasonable in an art forum such as this, where we meet to discuss content, artist, execution, style, and all other relevant issues that if a release from the world's most popular living artist is mistakenly described as an edition (or print) rather than an original (oil on paper as I understand it) then that mistake is gently corrected. It's certainly relevant to the discussion from the OP on the number of people who might be tempted to apply for the release, but also important as a print or edition could be an identical image created by a studio. However, with these originals not only are the images totally different but there is contemporaneous video evidence of Hirst himself creating them.
I think we all need to not be so uptight. There's an incredible amount of knowledge and warmth on this forum, albeit rather less than there used to be. Where you saw verbal aggression and a personal attack, I saw nothing other than a couple of members pointing out the error in description to another member (who seems to have taken no offence).

As far as I can see there was no criticism of any post you'd made (certainly not by me) and certainly no criticism or literary flagellation of any other person who'd made a similar post. I wonder what was Hirst's thought process to put on card and not canvas if these were going to be mounted on frames anyway...is that an artistic motion in and of itself or is there something technical that makes this easier/better?
It appears from some photos that the paint actually seeped through the card...

I wonder what was Hirst's thought process to put on card and not canvas if these were going to be mounted on frames anyway...is that an artistic motion in and of itself or is there something technical that makes this easier/better?
It appears from some photos that the paint actually seeped through the card...
