Damien Hirst • The Currency Unique Prints, by The Origin on Jan 12, 2023 11:15:38 GMT 1, I know of a couple of these that have changed hands privately for around the £6k mark. Either way they were certainly sold at source substantially under the perceived market value.

Damien Hirst • The Currency Unique Prints, by flingading on Jan 12, 2023 11:38:13 GMT 1, What's the correlation between the price of this print and the price of the Currency NFT? Or have you simply decided they are worth £3.5k? They are not selling for £10k / £8 / £6k. I’ve only seen one person sell one to a gallery for £4k. There are people who are trying to inflate prices but there isn’t a long queue of people wanting to buy at unrealistic prices. NFT was the utility to buy for many, so use this as a baseline and not the price a Currency original. Let’s use common sense rather than wishful thinking. The issue is that just because you haven't seen them change hands for X amount doesn't they mean that they haven't. You seem unhappy for people to unnaturally inflate prices but seem determined to unnaturally deflate them yourself based on one example you know of?
I think the comparison with the price of the NFT was probably just a poor choice of wording on your part as there doesn't appear to be any financial correlation between the two that I can see?
I'd have to agree with one or two other members on here that the relentless keyboard warrior act has become a little tiring. At this point it feels like you're just upset about others making money and attempt to disguise it with unsolicited protection of other forum members from flippers.
For what it's worth I don't own one of these.

Damien Hirst • The Currency Unique Prints, by fusion0001 on Jan 12, 2023 11:51:14 GMT 1, I think most points of view in this heated debate are about right: - if you want to immediatey sell-in this piece to a gallery you will probably get 4-5kGBP for it - if you want to buy this immediately from a gallery you will probably pay 8-10kGBP for it - if you want to do a private deal you will probably get/pay something in between
Its the classic situation where buyers think they should pay auction hammer minus fees since "thats what the seller gets" and sellers think they deserve auction hammer + BP since "thats what the buyers are willing to pay". The truth is in between.
On a different note, regardless of the image, print quality etc. for a random collector looking to buy a Hirst e.g. 2-3 years from now (with all the details forgotten by then) this is a 100x150cm Hirst spot print (not most elegant one, but not all are). Which may not mean much if the Hirst bubble bursts again; or might mean quite a lot if it does not.

There are plenty of people on here who are fed up and tired with how some people are constantly inflating prices and hyping up works for their own personal gains.
Occasionally there needs to be balance and people called out. I’ve been here for long enough to know who the people are (and even spot when new accounts are created) and it doesn’t hurt to look out for others.
I’m one of the collectors who doesn’t “buy & sell” so doesn’t purely comment for their self interest. I regularly post to make people aware of what is available and share information without being selfish.

Damien Hirst • The Currency Unique Prints, by misterx on Jan 12, 2023 22:40:39 GMT 1, You’ve been on here, like me, for over 10 years.
This has been going on, nonstop, every week, for that decade plus you’ve been around.
If you were a noob, not aware of this, I’d say fair enough, Acme has yet to realise this is what the Art World looks like, when it comes to money.
But man, that’s not who you are, you know the nuances at play, so why this particular print???!!!
If I had a bit more nuance myself, I could well imagine you are trying to drive the price down for your own financial interest, but I don’t possess such a thing so no doubt I’m wrong….

Damien Hirst • The Currency Unique Prints, by SFBM on Jan 12, 2023 23:38:45 GMT 1, Read the thread from the start, Acme was desperate for one of these. When he was unlucky he immediately started talking down the price - presumably to pick up a bargain.
Don’t believe any of the altruistic bullshit.

When he was unlucky he immediately started talking down the price - presumably to pick up a bargain. Don’t believe any of the altruistic bullshit. I’ve got the original Currency on my wall so I’m really not that desperate.
I don’t mess people around, play games or low ball when buying and I’m not in the market to buy one of these anyway. As someone who owns the Currency and gone to several Heni events, I therefore have a long term interest in the project. For full disclosure… I registered for the UP lottery, but when I saw it in person at the Heni party I was a little underwhelmed and I have stated this on the forum before so not desperate at all.
By your comment, I guess you own a UP so you are upset that someone doesn’t share your opinion and it’s not worth as much as you want it to be. Sorry!

It is taking us a little while longer than we thought to sort through them to make sure that allocation is properly and fairly done. We’ll make an update next week 🙏 —————- You have still to wait. Sounds like a they are being extra thorough in their checks on who these are being allocated to. It gives me a tiny bit of hope. Yet here you are, hopeful you got picked!

Damien Hirst • The Currency Unique Prints, by Sixty Bells on Jan 13, 2023 20:10:12 GMT 1, I don't get the 'poster' analogy.
Each one is unique and printed on archival matt stock using the same printing techniques as many Heni releases, like the Virtues. Each is individually hand signed and numbered by Hirst in a colour of acrylic pen chosen by the artist. And they're 1m x 1.5m
So I don't get why people call them posters.
It confuses me.

You are completely right that technically it is a print, but I guess the lower than expected paper quality (with it getting easily damaged) is a derogatory reference.

Using something like the triangular ones Fedex use.

Considerably more than ‘under 10’ were damaged and easily 100+ (without even trying to exaggerate)

Damien Hirst • The Currency Unique Prints, by reg on Jan 15, 2023 15:21:30 GMT 1, Heni are responding to emails, asking customers to return any damaged prints and are providing replacement prints. Pretty straightforward, Christmas interrupted a quicker response and no doubt they'll learn from trying to extend their regular tubes to take prints of this size.
Not sure why there's so many bad vibes and angst on here. There's zero wrong with the paper they're printed on and 100% fault of the tube and shipping, which Heni are resolving.
