FairArt - A New Kind of Marketplace, by FairArt on Feb 1, 2023 18:15:00 GMT 1, I tried to list a couple of walled off hotel souvenirs on your site but couldn't do it Thanks for flagging this Midlife Crisis .
Each artwork that is available to be bought and sold on FairArt is chosen with several factors in mind and this includes the prevalence of forgeries. Unfortunately there exists a large number of fake items related to the Walled Off Hotel and we have up until this point decided not to include them.
That being said, please let us know what you would like to list and we will look into the possibility of adding them to the platform.
Going forward, if you cannot find an artist / item when using the search bar on FairArt, the form shown below will automatically appear and you can fill it in to send the team a direct request for it to be added.
Hope this all makes sense. โจCheers, Nick

FairArt - A New Kind of Marketplace, by FairArt on Feb 2, 2023 18:27:03 GMT 1, Hello everyone,
We couldnโt be more excited to announce this new feature!
FairArt is now indisputably the fastest way to list your works for sale online.
You can now โskipโ our authentication process until your item has sold.
This change will radically speed up the listing process and allow you to list on FairArt in just 15 seconds.
This means that even if you cannot access your artwork at the time of listing, you will still be able make it available for sale on FairArt.
How does this benefit me as a seller?
If your item is in storage, tightly packaged up, youโre on holiday or you cannot access your item for any other reason, there is nothing stopping you from listing on FairArt and starting to receiving offers.
What does this mean for buyers on FairArt? โจ
Nothing changes - you still receive the exact same level of protection. We still require the exact same documentation, but it can now take place later on during the sales process.
Weโve attached a short clip to give you an idea of how it works. Listing is really that easyโฆ
Cheers, Nick

Unfortunately at this stage we do not accept the shipments of framed works through the FairArt. It is high up on our list of priorities and weโre hoping to have a solution ready in the coming months. Appreciate this may not be for everyone, but we have an โunframingโ guide available here.

Apologies, this was mentioned in our email communications, but I left it out of the above post!
Please let me know if you run into any other issues.

FairArt - A New Kind of Marketplace, by Daylight Robber on Feb 16, 2023 12:58:17 GMT 1, Some questions relating to shipping.......
Does the seller have to use DHL Express? I appreciate that Fairart are providing a service, but it works out to be a relatively expensive option if you are selling lower to mid value items that you might still want to insure for peace of mind. I don't think I've ever used DHL before, but I'm assuming that they have different price bands for insurance, based on value. Is the lowest band genuinely ยฃ12 (on top of the carriage charge already being covered by the buyers fees), or is the seller paying another fee to Fairart to arrange the cover?
Thanks

At this stage we require for sellers to ship with DHL, as it is an important component to our authentication process, provides proof of delivery and allows for the item to be tracked on FairArt.
With regards to insurance, we charge nothing extra to sellers - what you see is what we pay DHL. This DHL document outlines their insurance process, the minimum threshold and the cost of 1.5% (same as on FairArt). We do understand your frustration with the minimum, but unfortunately ยฃ12 is the fixed minimum for DHL insurance.
Iโm sorry I canโt be of more help with this. โจCheers, Nick

Thanks for the answer. A shame you're tied in. I suspect I won't be the only one put off by the fact that you are. When you advertise 'Great Rates' on shipping, suggesting that users can 'take advantage of reduced shipping rates' I'm guessing most won't be expecting the combined cost, to buyer and seller, for the shipping of some works, to be double (to triple) the price of an alternative service provider, which they're not able use.

No worries. We are actively looking into potential alternatives for higher and lower value works, but cannot make any firm commitments at this time. During this initial stage however, having one provider allows us to provide a consistent high quality service for both buyers and sellers. Youโll be the first to know once weโve found an alternative!
From our research 1.5% of an itemโs value is fairly competitive for insurance, it is true that with the minimum threshold this system tends to favour higher value items and this is why weโre looking into other options.
Regarding this item, please drop us a message (collecting@fairart.io) describing what you are looking to list and weโll see if thereโs something we can do for you

FairArt - A New Kind of Marketplace, by LJCal on Feb 17, 2023 21:15:42 GMT 1, Just bought a little Weiwei tree through fairart and was nice and easy. On the shipping I would suggest the insurance could be procured much cheaper than 1.5%, couriers take the piss with their rates. Not a big deal on small purchases like the one I just made but if I bought a ยฃ20,000 piece and had to pay ยฃ300 insurance on top of shipping I wouldn't be too happy especially when I could add to my all risks policy for probably ยฃ50 a year and it would be covered globally and in transit.

FairArt - A New Kind of Marketplace, by Daylight Robber on Feb 18, 2023 14:37:22 GMT 1, I would now like to ask who Sam is please. A few weeks ago he contacted me on eBay asking if I wanted to sell an item on Fairart instead of eBay. He said he was a friend of the founder of Fairart and did the soft sell thing. After I listed another piece he tried again, only this time he then went on to list the same item on eBay whilst undercutting on price and advertising it for sale on Fairart for less, in the eBay description. Something doesn't sit right. Sorry.

FairArt - A New Kind of Marketplace, by FairArt on Feb 18, 2023 15:08:02 GMT 1, Daylight Robber we have a number of people helping us reach out to sellers on eBay. I apologise for the repeat message, but I hope you can appreciate that at this early stage we are looking to exhaust all potential avenues with our outreach. Regarding the listing, this is another way in which we are looking to reach prospective buyers - I don't believe it is in any way linked to your individual listing. I will ensure that you are not contacted again.
Just a reminder that we have found a short term solution to your concerns with insurance for lower value items. Please get in touch with collecting@fairart.io and we'll run through it with you

Got to admit, my first thought was that is a VERY underhand tactic and any business who adopts this method is untrustworthy.
I certainly donโt like companies who try to steal business away from another (no matter how big or small).

FairArt - A New Kind of Marketplace, by FairArt on Feb 18, 2023 15:48:04 GMT 1, Hi, Acme Thunderer thanks for the comment. Just to be clear, at no point do we look to get somebody to list on FairArt instead of eBay - any outreach that is ever done is with an eye to for the seller to also list on FairArt, which allows them to then reach a wider audience of potential buyers.
I appreciate how this might seem unorthodox, but it is a tool that is commonly used by new marketplaces to help notify users of their presence - we donโt look to mislead in any way. Ultimately it is the decision of the users as to whether or not they would like to give the new marketplace a try or not.
