However you want to dress it up and try to justify your actions - it does makes you look VERY untrustworthy and you are still trying to steal business from eBay.

Just because others might do this (and I’m not aware of any other galleries doing this), that doesn’t make it acceptable.

It would completely put me off and no doubt, it would be the same for others.

When I spent serious money on art - “trust” is far more important to me than the price.

All of Sam's listings on eBay (& there's a few) advertise that the item is available on Fairart. There is no intention to sell on eBay, just an attempt to steer potential buyers away. Ignoring the fact that undercutting the price on eBay is a shitty thing to do to sellers you presumably want to attract, particularly when there isn't an intention to sell, it's understandably against eBay's terms to advertise on their platform and sell elsewhere. FAIRart it ain't.

I dunno eBay are a bunch of c u next Tuesday’s who have completely monopolised a big section of the retail and second hand goods market. Their customer service is terrible and the whole site is now basically run by bots and AI, any human input is usually by poorly paid and poorly trained staff. I hope more businesses try and eat their lunch. 

I understand how the listings part of our outreach may feel misleading Daylight Robber. We'll review this and more than likely remove them over the coming days.

And I genuinely want to see this do well. eBay, as others have pointed out, is far from perfect. I see you've now removed some of the listings over there. For what it's worth, I think that's a good move. Leave the shithousery to eBay and be transparent on Fairart. The sceptical and the tentative will work it out..

Quick question regarding the artists getting their 3%… is there any way we’d ever know if they’d received it?

If I decided to have a clear out and I ‘fairarted’, providing all went smoothly, how would I then know it wasn’t just hot air coming from your end and that you had actually in fact followed through?

There’s no real way I’d know if any artist had even got a sniff of it… do you have a system in place for this?

We’ve been working on FairArt for a number of years, and it would feel like an immense waste of time if within just a few months of launching, our entire ‘raison d’être’ was proven to be a lie. I hope this thread has shown that we want to actively engage with the community and create a long term solution that is beneficial to both artists and collectors in the secondary market.
 
A number of artists are already aware of the platform and have taken part in interviews for our Instagram page - it wouldn’t take long for them to start calling us out publicly if we weren’t telling the truth about royalties. We are a limited company and would also be in serious breach of the The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations if we failed to pay out royalties as promised.
 
Just a reminder, royalties will be paid out on a quarterly basis and the first payout cycle will take place at the end of next month. We cannot share our private communications with artists, but all past sales are readily available to view on the site and you can of course get in touch with the relevant artists to ensure they have received their royalty payments. 

I fully appreciate that our approach is unorthodox, and that some will inevitably be sceptical at first. I hope the above has given you greater assurance, but equally happy to discuss this further if needed and open to suggestions.

This was discussed a number of comments ago, but it’s definitely a good idea to take another look. 

All payouts on FairArt are held securely by our payment partner Stripe until a buyer has received their item. This allows for any issues with an item’s condition / authenticity to be raised by the buyer before a seller is paid out. We handle claims on a case by case basis and give both buyers and sellers the opportunity to submit any relevant documentation. If someone is found to have purposefully misled or sought to defraud, we will charge a penalty fee and ban the account.

All funds are held in accounts with our payment partner Stripe, once a sale is made the payment is split out between seller payout, artist royalty and FairArt fees. Artists are then paid out on a quarterly basis depending on the number of sales of their work that have taken place on FairArt in that period.
