Confirmed Banksy Margate - Valentine’s day mascara, by Dutch Art Collector on Feb 13, 2023 16:15:11 GMT 1, An unusual piece of art has appeared on the wall of a property in Margate.
The painting shows a 50s-style housewife shoving, presumably, her husband into a dumped chest freezer off the alleyway at Grosvenor Place/Park Place.
Questions have been raised on social media over who the artist could be, with some suggesting street artist and political activist Banksy.
Amy Richardson, who lives nearby, photographed the art work and said she first saw it this morning after a broadband van was driven away from the spot.
Banksy’s stencils feature striking and humorous images occasionally combined with slogans. The message is usually anti-war, anti-capitalist or anti-establishment. He displays his art on publicly visible surfaces such as walls and self-built physical prop pieces. His work has appeared at locations world-wide.

Hope they superglued the freezer down otherwise some knob will be trying to sell it for a million quid on eBay by tea time.

Hopefully the council will go some distance to preserve and protect as it will be of benefit to the area.

The broken chair could be placed in reference to a broken chair metaphor. Seems to be a few different metaphors but one is violence.

For me, everything about this new piece screams "Banksy":
- technical execution and style (including stencil-cutting style, shading technique, and colour palette);
- mixture of stencil and freehand elements;
- attention to detail (e.g. the frill of the apron);
- subject matter;
- dark humour and overall tone (including the vintage/nostalgia aspect); and
- site specificity and incorporation of external elements (in this instance, street refuse).
If your assessment was serious, and you are confident enough in your position to place a £10 wager, I will offer you 20/1 odds that the work will at some point be officially confirmed as a Banksy.

The angle makes a complete mess of the trompe-l'œil and almost completely misses the (seemingly) blood-spattered frying pan.
