That's the one! Very nice
Where would be a safe place to look for one? Are galleries a safe bet any more?

Salvador Dali ๐ช๐ฆ Spanish Surrealist Artist โข Art For Sale, by stang on Feb 27, 2017 21:52:31 GMT 1, Bruce at the Dali gallery could help you out but you'll pay though the nose with them or any gallery really. To be honest if you're careful and read up a bit there's quite often great value on eBay. There are literally hundreds of thousands of authentic Dali multiples but even more fakes, afters or unauthorised editions so it's a bit of a minefield.
Frank Hunter in The Dali Archives (Albert Field's successor) is very helpful and will authenticate any print for $200 I think. I use him to authenticate all my pieces.
If you see something you like feel free to drop me a pm and I could have a look at it for you. I've been collecting Dali for years so happy to help if I can.

Salvador Dali ๐ช๐ฆ Spanish Surrealist Artist โข Art For Sale, by Deleted on Feb 28, 2017 0:21:25 GMT 1, Bruce is a smooth operator. I agree about paying high prices via Bruce and I wonder about the Dali print price guide catalogues being publiched by Bruce considering he also sells Dali prints. Optimistic values ? He sells those Dali print price guides as well as Dali prints
Does he use a phone sales team to get people to buy at premium prices?
Apparently Bruce is quite pally with Robert Descharnes who authenticates Dali drawings and altho not recognised by the Dali Foundation in Spain and has no actual rights to Dali copyright and is not related to Dali, is recognised by Sotheby's and other major auction houses. Even though some have disputed his expertise in this field. I heard a few stories about Robert Descharnes.
Captain Peter Moore another old rogue assosciated with Dali. www.theguardian.com/world/1999/apr/29/1
Albert Fields was the honest one and worked on the catalogue raisonnรฉe for Dali prints to prevent fake sbeing sold. Also Fields was not a dealer or involved in selling Dali's unlike the others who give expertise and at the same time sell Dali prints and sometimes originals. Frank Hunter (Fields successor) would be the person to trust regarding authentication.
Hochman and Ewell had at least one court battle and litigation regarding their opinions of each other and Dali has brought out the worst in people, when he was alive and even today, and through no fault of his own.
If you get a chance to watch this documentary by Ian Gibson it will certainly make on realise what type of people are motivated by greed and money.

An easy way to see if investing in Dali prints is a way to go.
Contact some of the more well known auction houses and ask them if they would auction a Dali print for you. If you walked in their door with one. If they respond by saying we are not taking in any Dali prints. They are either hard to sell at auction or auction houses are wary of fakes.
Here are a couple of articles.

Salvador Dali ๐ช๐ฆ Spanish Surrealist Artist โข Art For Sale, by Viking Surfer on Feb 28, 2017 2:22:11 GMT 1, I agree with needing the Albert Field catalogue raisonnรฉe. www.amazon.com/Official-Catalog-Graphic-Works-Salvador/dp/0965361101It can save you a lot of money in errors. Fields is the only catalogue worth having. I would avoid the galleries thats say they specialise in Dali prints if they are also involved in printing their own catalogue of expertise for Dali. I personally would avoid Park West gallery of ship auctions fame and wasn't Bernard Ewell authenticating for them or was it someone else? Don't get drawn into buying from any gallery who tell you you are buying an investment. The Albaretto Dali's prints have been alledged to be fakes. Also not all theplates that were used to print Dali's have been destroyed and reprints have been produced. You have to know your paper as certain paper was used and fakes have been printed on the wrong paper. and the Albert Fields raisonnรฉe has all the info. Genuine Dali prints do come up from time to time and the best way is to take your time and learn and don't part with money too quickly. Authentication is not impossible if you have the right information at hand. I don't know if Dali.com is good but they have the complete list and images of Dali prints on their site. Here is some reading. www.artelino.com/articles/salvador-dali-prints.asp Wheras I'm not commenting on Park West as a whole, but that court case was thrown out, the Dali's and Ewell's reputation were both proven to be genuine.
You'll find that the company who lodged the court case (Fine Art Registry), no longer exist and were forced to pay severe defamation damages to both Bernard Ewell and Park West Gallery.
So I think you'll find Bernard Ewell is still considered one of the world's leaders in Dali authentication and information, ultimately used by some of the biggest auction houses in the world.

Salvador Dali ๐ช๐ฆ Spanish Surrealist Artist โข Art For Sale, by johawa on Feb 28, 2017 6:54:19 GMT 1, This thread made me go back and look at a Dali print called Lenin Tiger that I've had rolled up in a tube for the past 20 years. I was a little kid when I purchased it as my first piece of art (I remember paying ~$1000 for it). I must have known something was off, or it would be framed now, but tonight I unrolled it, referred to one of the links posted here and since it has the Arches watermark with the infinity symbol, it's a fake. I think I should track the guy who sold it to me and signed the COA down and see what he has to say about it all these years later. Google says that these days he works as the senior vice president of investments at a bank in Florida.

It gives me alot more confidence to go out and look into sourcing a print further. stang yes I was hoping that with a bit of knowledge I could source a good deal on the bay. With so many fakes it must be keeping prices down for people who dont feel they have the right provenance on a real print. Thank you very much for the offer of looking into links for me that really is appreciated thank you, i'll definitely take you up on that if its ok.
johawa thats a real shame but at least you know what to look for now.

Considering the lots of money people are happy to pay for framing prints with top notch quality frames museum glass float mounting etc etc. The 500 bucks for an Albert Field catalogue is not a lot of money compared to teh amount someone could pay for a print.
I'd imagine that Albert Fields work and catalogue is copyrighted. He spent decades working on it.

Which court case was that, as there has been more than one. Does a court prove Dali prints are genuine because a court case was thrown out.
I saw some court documents where both sides agreed to stop throwing mud at each other, plus wasn't there a large amount of money awarded against Park West too? Lots of people who bought on the cruise ships were unhappy with their purchase after getting expertise I heard.
Personally I would be wary of all of the players in this game on both sides. Hochman sells genuine Dali prints altho there are rumours he has charged way over current value to wealthy buyers who could have bought the same suite of prints etc for a lot less money elsewhere.
My own view is that one party who instigated all the action against the other party was unhappy that the other party was taking sales away from them and hence making a good profit.
I'm not knocking Ewells expertise regarding Dali and it's not hard to authentiate an authentic collection a sin St Petersberg. There again Ewell is not an authenticator as far as I know he is an appraiser. Which gives a lot more leeway if one makes an error of opinion.
An authenticator is recognised by the major auction houses and museums etc.
I know for a fact that some "authenticators" are dodgy and work with certain dealers, some are incompetent and some are liars and thieves and some are just plain nasty if someone is not part of the club some belong to.

Salvador Dali ๐ช๐ฆ Spanish Surrealist Artist โข Art For Sale, by Brushstrokes 75 on Apr 6, 2017 21:06:13 GMT 1, There are a lot of fake dalis around but even more because dali used to sell blank sheets woth his sig on it. (That's why most dali prints aren't worth top dollar). Buy the catalogue raisonne (youshould fror every artist you re interested in actually because those are the reference). Apart from Albert field, don't waste money on paying an expert. At the end of the day, they have no authority. It's a good pointer but nothing else. People on this scene get too obsessed with CoAs, it does not really exist for printed matter for most artists. It doesn't mean works are fake either tbh.
PS : I'm no Dali expert. I m a modern art print dealer and I don't usually touch anything Dali because it's always an hassle.

Galerie Michael are helpful and trustworthy gallery. However, their pricing is over the top. They re selling pronts for $15k that are worth no more than $600. Different definition of crooks.
Stay away from Park west, their biggest scandal was about the cruises and the rembrandt plates they bought and reprinted and sold as OG.

An Authenticated Dali will have the signature of one of the above on the verso of the print and the date of the authentication. They will issue a certificate of authentication to accompany the artwork as well.
Never purchase a Dali without one of the above authentications, otherwise the artwork is likely in-correct. This only applies to Dali Prints, not Dali Sculpture or Wall Reliefs published by Martin Lawrence.
At GallArt.com, we have over 100 Dali's in stock and on display in our 8,000 Square foot gallery located in Aventura, FL. This fits into a similar category of trying to put Jimi Hendrix and or others back on stage in the form of holograms. If I was there in person then I might feel different. I think Dali probably would like it, but I think if he were involved it wouldn't be so stiff, I'm sure it would be weirder.

The $50m Art Swindle
Documentary telling the remarkable story of a charlatan art dealer who swindled more than $50million from the art establishment before going on the run. Michel Cohen, a popular and charming New York art dealer originally from France, was a high-school drop-out from a poor background who went on to become a rich and successful art dealer. Throughout the 1990s, he sold paintings by artists such as Picasso, Monet and Chagall to America's wealthiest elite. Cohen was living the high life until he began trading recklessly in the stock market and ran up considerable debts. In an attempt to recoup his losses, he swindled private collectors, auction houses and other art dealers out of more than $50million. When his crimes were discovered, he fled the US with his wife and two children and went on the run. In 2003, he was found by Interpol in Brazil and was imprisoned in Rio de Janeiro, but seven months later while awaiting extradition to the US, he escaped from prison and vanished off the face of the earth. Sixteen years later, film-maker Vanessa Engle tracks him down and persuades him to tell his extraordinary story

Salvador Dali ๐ช๐ฆ Spanish Surrealist Artist โข Art For Sale, by stavi on Sept 23, 2019 19:05:12 GMT 1, Personally, i would've taken one of the ants. Anyways seems like it should be easy enough to make a new egg. Size wise, it was a small part of the statue.
Also that documentary seems interesting.
