After 14 years of silence, the ever-illusive Banksy will be taking over Glasgow’s Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) for a long awaited solo exhibition, entitled “CUT & RUN!”, promising a massive showcase of 25 years worth of Banksy’s iconic stencil work from 1998 to the present…as the anonymous icon’s first authorized retrospective, it’s sure to be legendary, anti-authority, and unlike any other street-art exhibition…now on view until August 28!




With emphasis on the artist's most prized tool—the stencil—the show remains characteristically cloaked in mystery. The artist's website provides a brief peek into the surprises that await: visitors' cell phones will be locked away in pouches for the duration of the show, photography is prohibited, and the environment of the exhibition (which includes "tight spaces, fragile items, and disorientating light effects") ask viewers to "stay in the moment and keep moving." 



Dictated by his own terms, Banksy shared a glimpse of what’s in store: “…stencils hidden away for years, mindful they could be used as evidence in a charge of criminal damage. But that moment seems to have passed, so now I’m exhibiting them in a gallery as works of art. I’m not sure which is the greater crime.”
