Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Aug 13, 2023 23:57:24 GMT 1, So is nobody getting one? I'm tempted in the hope I end up with a unique work!! If the comments on Instagram and the lack of interest on here is anything to go by these just don’t seem popular. This high gloss finish really doesn’t seem a winner either. They’ve certainly been pushing them though as that’s all I keep seeing on Insta. We shall find out soon enough if these really have bombed. I actually wouldn’t mind one myself.. I have seen them in person and the glare really is an issue on the black and white works, especially those without the paint splashes. Seeing the grain of the canvas in the giclee is an odd choice that doesn’t sit well with me.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by King and a Duck on Aug 14, 2023 9:39:24 GMT 1, This would have been a lot more fun if, after the prints were ordered and made, DH added further real paint splatters. Both a print and a unique piece at the same time.
Could have sold a lot more at a much higher price.
I can start work on Monday, Heni.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by its all about me on Aug 14, 2023 11:37:17 GMT 1, I wonder why Heni persist in this super-shiny dibond stuff. It seems universally unpopular. When they brought out the spin paintings on canvas, I thought, "Great! At last Heni have decided to ditch the dibonds and do something a bit more interesting instead". But now I see that was a false hope and they have quickly gone back to the same old horrible shiny stuff with a signed sticky label on the back.
Disappointing all round really.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by cryptoowly on Aug 14, 2023 12:19:05 GMT 1, I think I there's a lot of complaining about the dibonds, and to some extent fair enough, but the actual demand for the last few editions (around 8k each) suggests plenty of people happy to buy. Perhaps the lack of an alternative contributes to that. Hard to say. The image replication is second to none so it's ll about putting them up in the right place.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Carl Cashman Art on Aug 14, 2023 13:03:49 GMT 1, Just been back to see the prints before the deadline. Actually prefer the seascapes, rather than the floor pieces in this format, when I really wasn't keen on the seascapes as paintings. The square panels are the weakest imo as you see a lot of canvas texture due to the images being enlarged.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by SFBM on Aug 14, 2023 13:13:43 GMT 1, I think the dibonds worked for the Virtues and can work for other images but Heni should be considering each release and the best medium to use rather than having a single approach. I’ve not seen these prints but the visibility of canvas grain doesn’t sound great.
I have less of a concern about the shiny surface that everyone seems troubled by. I have one behind museum glass in a very light room and any reflection is minimal. I’d always want to frame a piece regardless of the medium , built-in hanging systems etc so not an issue for me.

How did you mount it behind glass? I'm still looking for the best way to display the diabonds. They definitely need a floater frame at the very least IMO.

A sub-frame that uses the piece’s built-in hanger so that it floats nicely and the whole thing is reversible.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by jerryjerry on Aug 14, 2023 15:23:31 GMT 1, These might do numbers between the virtues and empresses (lower end of the difference). Seen a few people looking at the prints.
The posters are again another run of 1,000 spread over the 3 designs, so people working there stated. So 2,000 in total, 666 across each one.
Fair queue for them today including one guy buying 'one for my mum'.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Horatio Nelson on Aug 14, 2023 23:40:32 GMT 1, I was disappointed to see the canvas grain.
And then - even worse - I noticed you could also see the original paint splats/brush strokes.
Surely they realise people are buying these for the status of having a large Hirst image up on the wall, not because people actually want to see the underlying physical artwork in any great detail?

Agreed, a bit of Photoshopping, some blur filters, maybe some crude hand editing, and lower resolution photos in the first place would have really improved these.
