Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Londown 01 on Aug 15, 2023 9:03:50 GMT 1, I was disappointed to see the canvas grain. I agree but: at least they're not trying to hide the fact that these are simple photos.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by its all about me on Aug 15, 2023 11:15:49 GMT 1, I was disappointed to see the canvas grain. And then - even worse - I noticed you could also see the original paint splats/brush strokes. Surely they realise people are buying these for the status of having a large Hirst image up on the wall, not because people actually want to see the underlying physical artwork in any great detail? Surely seeing the original brush strokes is a positive not a negative. Isn't that at least part of the appeal when buying original works of art rather than signed posters?

I should have added a satire tag to the post.
The canvas grain is wonderful - the viewer’s perception and understanding of the piece/medium keeps changing as they get closer and closer to the print.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Horatio Nelson on Aug 15, 2023 12:25:40 GMT 1, I have a Heni print of another artist’s painting (bought via Leviathan) and thought there was a scuff on it. Checked out the original painting at high res and realised Heni had captured the exact same mark in the print. Makes it more authentic. Although I remember Joe Hage saying they once noticed a fly in a Richter painting when taking high res images to make a print - can’t remember what they decided to do but it raises interesting questions about art reproduction/facsimile.

Tax free profit available on the sale of chattels under £6k, so not unique to posters of this nature.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by stendhal on Aug 15, 2023 13:11:52 GMT 1, Most of them accept a 50 to 80 pounds profit. Disapointing to see that people never learn, easy to get more in one or two years with a 30 euros frame well chosen. Good for foreign buyers like me. It’s very thrilling right now on ebay : you make agressive offers, you get counter offers and you counter the counter offer… At the end of the day you end up with a good fun and 6 posters for not much. Hope this will pay my mortgage and my children studies in a few years (😇)

Surely there’s another Fruitful and Forever around the corner.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by chippy on Aug 15, 2023 13:57:12 GMT 1, Happy to make a purchase, think these are being underrated, which I'm also pleased about. I cant help but agree. I like the seascapes and they are certainly no worse than the other diabond releases but will be such smaller editions. Which one takes your fancy? From the moment I see Damien doing these (seascapes) in his studio via Instagram they really appealed to me on a personal connection, the madness of them! & was hoping for a release .. Blizzard was my choice of purchase. Did you make the plunge?

Surely there’s another Fruitful and Forever around the corner. They look decorative and « serious », almost intelectual. Not too much text, just a mystérious title very discret. If you add à nice signature at the right place (main criteria for choosing them for me), how could it not cost 300/400 € per unit? I often see Hirst series of posters on Catawiki making nice prices. It has to be cleverly put into simple frames, ready to hung for the buyers. I would say 1500 euros for a nice série of 3 with Nice black frame in 2 years. Anyway, if I am wrong, nothing to lose. But not so much to earn on the other side if I am right

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Aug 15, 2023 14:06:01 GMT 1, Typically, posters in auctions are placed by those with access, and only at less prominent houses. Many times they are included by people who work for the auction house or by the artist themself. Try auctioning some tat at a third-rate house and see if they are interested in it; you may be surpised even if you offer something seen in their sales history.

Blizzard was my choice of purchase. Did you make the plunge? Yeah after much humming and harring i went for Blizzard too, a punt really having not seen it.
Got to the show this morning however and must say I am delighted with it. Absolutely love the originals, 'Seascapes' were always my favourite but in the flesh they're stunning. Would have like an original but i reakon saving over half mill is something I'll just have to live with.
With regards to the gloss finish, I've never been that concerned with it, you're not buying a print at the end of the day, and I have plenty of prints. And in the case of Blizzard, its a dynamic piece that is supposed to capture the energy of a huge wave crashing, I see no need for it to be matt to match the Farrow and Ball walls!
Took my daughter to the show and she loved the Seascapes which is always a good sign. She also loved the huge 'Coast Paintings' and was delighted to find what looked like a cigarette butt in one of them?!
Anyway, hopefully it's just an edition of 2
Originals and Composites below:

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by stendhal on Aug 15, 2023 14:50:15 GMT 1, My best sales have been made on a local website here in France. Not all but a lot of collectors use it and it is free. I don’t like auction houses to sell, they tale too much fees. When you add seller and buyer fee you almost reach 50% which is a nonsense to get profit for things under 5k

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by pamplemousse on Aug 15, 2023 20:10:40 GMT 1, Blizzard was my favourite but lacking wall space and storage space for boxes!
A family member bought a set of the square Coast Paintings. We both liked how they are 1:1 with the original canvases so you have a section of Hirst’s studio floor on your wall to scale. Seeing canvas grain and paint as it would have been is a nice touch. Also noticed a footprint in corner of H13-8.
Regarding comments on the ‘glossy finish’ Heni have been producing prints like this for years… Veils, Elements and so on. Every release people post the same comments!

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by stendhal on Aug 15, 2023 20:51:31 GMT 1, Hirst is behaving like some of the great masters of 20th century. I do not say, and do not think, that Hirst has thé talent of a Picasso. But, just some figures can be helpful to put what he is doing into perspective : * litho by Picasso : 1000 editions (x edition size for each one) * engraved works by Picasso : 2000 editions (x edition size for each one) * ceramics éditions by Picasso : 600 editions (x edition size for each one)
Signed posters was also an habit of Picasso, there were a lot of them.
Hirst will never reach such numbers unless he lives 200 years.

It was a other time when there were no printers. Digital printing offers new capabilities but it is considered, as of today, as less noble. Main part of the artworks I own are lithographs from the 20th century. I like them but you cannot do the same thing with it. Perhaps these things will be a new paradigm for a long time, perhaps not.
to answer your question, there were some like André Villers portfolio.

Damien Hirst H13 • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by cryptoowly on Aug 16, 2023 8:27:30 GMT 1, I think this is why Heni uses Dibond. The photograph printing technique most closely replicates the original and if that is the intention of a print then you can t beat it. I think that was the original I mention of prints but for sone the narrative has shifted and the old techniques are desirable in own right in to create something similar but different to the original.
By printing on dibond the digital approach can really differentiate itself. It's the medium for digital photographic printing. Gloss or no gloss.

now I just hope the edition will be under 500 pieces or even less but I doubt it.
