Mutiny in Colour, by fuzzed on Aug 5, 2023 20:10:34 GMT 1, I don’t think I’ve seen anything about this on here, probably for good reasons.
I’d been avoiding it but went to take a look today, to escape the rain, as it was pretty much on the doorstep. I went to the Bury St Edmunds show. It’s a curation of artwork from street/urban artists but I think it’s pretty much Brandler’s collection, most of which looks to be for sale.
it was nice to see the artworks reaching a more general audience but nothing too groundbreaking, just a nice collection of canvases, prints and ephemera.
I’d seen all of the Banksy street pieces in situ on the street anyway, so nothing too new there. There’s pieces by pure evil, blek, RYCA, copyright, eelus, Damien hirst, Connor brothers, SPQR, D*face. There are some nice artworks and was cool to show the kids things they’d seen at home exhibited.
I think the most galling thing was cheap posters with random images on them like the Dismaland print bus, photos of Banksy artworks being sold for £45 each and then WCP prints being flogged for £475+ 😂 anyway, it killed time on a dismal day and hopefully the venue made some money off entrance. Anyone else been?
