Paul Insect - Super Glow SWAP SHOP - CLOSED, by drip on Sept 1, 2023 10:31:32 GMT 1, In a nod to Beyond The Streets...I offer a now retired Lego Adidas Originals Superstar (10282) along with a limited edition mini Lego Adidas Originals Superstar (40486) that was only available with the larger set. These have both been built after reigniting my enjoyment of Lego, during stints of insomnia due to steroids I have been taking whilst in chemotherapy treatment for stage 4 cancer, I found building lego sets keep me distracted during long nights...so as well as being two very cool sets, they also have a very personal attachment... but a Paul Insect on my wall to admire during nights of insomnia would be even better! 
I had no idea they made Lego shoes. Very cool.

The toy is quite hard to come across, and if you're a completist, there's also a purple one out there to find.
It's quite big. Bigger than it looks in pictures. It's very impressive, but sadly my girlfriend, who is genuinely currently leaving me btw, wants it gone.
Full disclosure, it doesn't currently work. No, I didn't wear it out. I've seen a handful of these over the years, and they ALL require repair in some way. Either the electronics are shoddy, or the gears strip or something. They're usually repairable, but I would leave it as-is, and this shouldn't detract from the magnificence of this item.
I guarantee that nobody else you know owns one of these. Place it on your coffee table and watch guests and visitors marvel and whisper about you.

As far as i know, these are the only shoes Lego have made, I agree a pretty cool collaboration and a great shoe to choose, especially with the B-Boy mini figure. Adidas returned the favour with lego styled wearable trainers too (and clothing).

1. A set of Russian matryoshka dolls depicting 10 Soviet/Russian heads of state. Bought in the early 2000's, somewhere in Eastern Europe.
2. A very rare unopened can of Irn Bru that I bought in 2007. The can was produced on 29th October 2007 at A.G. Barr's Cumbernauld factory in Scotland.
3. A vintage 1970's moon globe, made in Denmark. I don't remember where I got this one.
4. A drumstick that was used by Todd Trainer, drummer of American noise rock band Shellac during a gig in January 2019 in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Todd is one of the best drummers in the world. He drums with the 'wrong' side of the stick, so it's worn out at the bottom.

This is my original raving whistle that I purchased in 1990 from Mash in Oxford Street, London. I customised the whistle with the same cord that is on it today and vividly remember sealing the ends of the cord with a zippo lighter (as it dripped molten plastic over my fingers).
It went with me to every rave across the UK from 1990 to 1993, when it was โsocially normalโ to blow a whistle in a club/warehouse. From late 1993 my musical tastes changed to breakbeat/trip hop/techno so the whistle stayed at home.
This make of whistle is better known as a referee whistle and it came out of retirement in the 2000โs when I used to referee 5-a-side football leagues, but it will be the raving days that I will always remember it for.
If Paul selects this whistle as a winning entry then I hope that it will eventually be worn by one of his trash puppets (old school DJ?) so it has a new purpose.

I love Paul Insectโs work. However my wife isnโt his biggest fan. And when I showed her the amazing Super Glow piece she said โYouโre NOT buying THAT!โ.
So, as she isnโt a fan of Paul or the piece, I thought that it would be apt to secretly nick her fan (which also isn't big) to exchange for the print.
That way if I am lucky enough to win the piece, I can tell her that I DID in fact listen to her and DIDN'T buy the print, I just swapped it.

Itโs nice to see some interesting swap material on offer by members trying to snag a very awesome print from a top tier artist. Itโs a shame more artists out there donโt do similar. I'm offering this tin of Indonesian fags. Purchased 21 years ago in Batu Pahat Malaysia.
Purchased for the princely sum of 3.95 RM (Ringgit Malaysia). Price tag can be seen in the photo. Its about 68 pence.
its a nice tin. Still sealed with 36 fags inside. Probably not sensible to attempt smoking them though.

* Cope2 special edition Converse sneakers (UK size 11 mens), circa 2006, each hand-signed by Cope2
* Martha Cooper's "Hip Hop Files: Photographs 1979-1984", hand signed by Martha Cooper (dated 10/04 with a sketch of a camera) and Zeb.Roc.Ski. This is a first edition hard cover book.
