Pejac - New show - NYC, by Criminal Mischief on Nov 9, 2023 16:34:15 GMT 1, The location is very unusual, a vacant space around the corner from Saks Fifth Avenue, across the street from St Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Center. But the space itself is pretty awesome, vacant and raw with not one but three spiral staircases (natural for any street art exhibition) and a swimming pool in the lower level converted into an art installation that perfectly matched the rest of the show.

Pejac - New show - NYC, by Inknart on Nov 10, 2023 15:57:45 GMT 1, I took a look at the pictures, tbh I expected a little more substance. The pool was great, but the overall body of the work didn't seem to resonate like older work for me. PINS has a show in NYC now as well, surprised no posts about that.

Pejac - New show - NYC, by Wanchope on Nov 10, 2023 22:05:43 GMT 1, I donโt think it is hyping, well not in a false way, itโs just pejac has a clear and definite following which turns into genuine excitement. Having said this I also feel there could have been more pieces and a print to coincide with the show. The time taken to create each piece probably has something to do with it. His attention to detail is astonishing imo. Just my thoughts

Pejac - New show - NYC, by Deleted on Nov 10, 2023 22:24:17 GMT 1, Liked a couple of paintings. Some were great but a lot of pieces at the show were just ok.
The icebergs looked much better on his post in instagram, but in-person they weren't too great. The birds were somewhat boring to me. A lot piece to me looked better on his post than at the show. The burned pieces were somewhat cool. Some of imagery just comes off a bit boring or a little man cave to me. Feels like there weren't too many pieces - to make sure the show was sold out. This market I understand that.
Got give them credit for doing it in this market and at that location.

Pejac - New show - NYC, by kjg on Nov 10, 2023 23:37:34 GMT 1, Although I'm a little bit jealous that I can't be at this show, it seems to me like - judging on what I see and read - the show in Berlin was a bit better. More surprising, more excitement, more vigour.

Pejac - New show - NYC, by artlike on Nov 10, 2023 23:42:35 GMT 1, The venue was a lot smaller than Berlin. From the videos I've seen the works fit very nicely indeed. The vibe looked really great on the first night. Very New York. Just saw the post about the signed posters. Did anyone pick up a spare by any chance?? Apparently there were only 50

Pejac - New show - NYC, by Deleted on Nov 11, 2023 8:02:12 GMT 1, Commissioned works at the normal gallery price labelled with a red dot, could be, but doesn't have to be, who knows, a thousand others have done this trick before him, but it gets boring in the long run. And he didn't do that few works, there is an AP of many works, i.e. 2 versions. I remember the large stag and deer sculpture. The works are good, for me the touch of "kitschy" is too much, but that's a matter of taste. I wish him every success.

Don't hate the player.

Pejac - New show - NYC, by Jules Leotard on Nov 12, 2023 7:54:55 GMT 1, At first, I wanted to go to this (and was going to go out of my way to do so). The comments make it sound lazy and uninspired. I'm going to go ahead and hate the player and the game...not going to waste the time. The nail in the coffin for me was the fifty signed posters. They are silly f'ing show posters. Pejac, tire your wrist out a little bit, it's five letters. I could care less to have one, but if you are an artist and you are engaging in the whole 'false scarcity of tat merch' game, I'm looking elsewhere. Going the route of Invader's 'one per person' is better than this silliness. Pejac is interesting, but he isn't all that interesting.

Youโre not going because a couple people said Berlin was better? Form your own opinions, do the research, go to the show, and then come back here. This just sounds so childish and youโre comparing Pejac to Invader, two very different artists who use different techniques and mediums. Take your saltiness out there. Guaranteed youโre someone who enter Pejac lotteries and miss every time.

Guaranteed youโre someone who enter Pejac lotteries and miss every time. Sorry to disappoint, but I have never entered a Pejac lottery. I appreciate some of his ideas, but he clearly elevates himself more in his own mind than I elevate him in mine. I also value my time enough that I don't waste it. I guess missing his show will be my loss and I'm okay with that. The UAA reviews have nothing to do with my decision other than reinforcing it after reading the silliness about signing only 50 posters. I certainly would have been happy enough to hook Artlike up with a show poster even if I was only allowed one. I am neither a lover or hater of Pejac, I was on the fence. The signed poster in massively limited numbers...that's the 'hilariously dumb' move.
If an artist wants to expand their fan base, here's a tip, be likeable not pretentious. Being 'cool' doesn't do it for me anymore.
