There are always objective and subjective ways to apprehend everything.
If you don't like the design of this Invader print, well I guess that maybe you don't like his Rubickubism work ? Ok, it's not a Mona Lisa or a famous rock album cover. It's not as mainstream.
It's just the portrait of a genius named Enki Bilal, a truly respected living legend (and for the collectors mainly interested by prices : Enki's original work always explodes in auctions, please check you won't be disappointed).
As Newar said in a previous message, I was also a fan of Enki's work and style before Invader, because I read his awesome comics when I was a teenager, early and mid 90's. I discovered Invader's work in early 2000 and followed his well deserved rise.
So two legends are face to face, sharing art and ideas, even if their universes are so different. But they are connected, in a mirror game, and for those loving their work, that's totally incredible. I needed to possess a part of this history.
I would have loved to buy the two designs but had to make a choice (the Invader one, I will put it close to my Jack print).
So, I don't care if it doesn't sell out. I don't care about a potential flip.
In my opinion, this collab is fresh and crazy ; plus an explosive way to enter in the complicated paper press industry for Portfolio that had the chance (and leverages) to make it happen.
I'm just happy, please don't kill my vibe ๐คฃ
Just a last question : does anyone know if Invader ever co-signed a print or something else, or is it another remarkable thing about these prints?

this can give everyone an idea of how much this print might be worth in the future, in my opinion more than 1.5k (in fact i took one).
As you all know, invader does not produce many prints. Even the last big show he did with OTI produced nothing (except unique works).
You also know that when he makes prints to buy them you need to be there in person.
So it is difficult to buy one of his prints at release price.
IMO is still not sold out because:
-Subject of the print (is not fantastic)
-Some of you are (rightly) waiting for that print to come out that was seen a month ago in his instagram stories (with the subject of all his works).
-The site is in French and many have not understood how it works and don't trust it.
If you check all the 1.5K purchases are from French people.
-The sale is real you can see the number by number of sales, in other contexts the sold out are fake the site is blocked and hype is created to sell. How many of you would buy if you saw the sold out and then magically see the possibility to buy again? if yesterday at 6pm (time of the sale) you saw the site blocked and the impossibility to put the print in the cart, and then magically be able to do it?
So do what you want but afterwards don't complain that it's hard to buy a print of Invader.

Way too high. Will they come back? Who knows. But prices on recent straight down the middle prints - Albino Invader, Sunset, Home, etc. - are not great, to say the least...

What to think about other portraits by Invader ( The Shining etc.. ) or Banksy ( Kate moss, Churchill etc... ) and unknown childs or characters painted by other artists ? In fact, your reproach is because Bilal is not Alain Delon... I mean you don't like his face. Weird too. 3k for their leisure ? You never paid that for artworks that you like ? Each their own !
