Banksy & Ken Livingstone, by mcster on Apr 23, 2008 8:03:27 GMT 1, Has anyone read Boris' policies? One of his big 'selling points' is anti-graffiti stance. So if you like street art, can you really say Boris is the man?

Banksy & Ken Livingstone, by manchestermike on Apr 23, 2008 9:23:54 GMT 1, Congestion charge was a fucking awful idea, and I say that as someone who doesn't live in London.
Boris doesn't get as much credit as he deserves for his intelligence. You see the bumbling fool but that's his public persona, he's much smarter than people give him credit for - he was one of the top scholars at Eton and graduated from Oxford, you don't do that without a brain. You wouldn't get to where he is if you were stupid. He speaks his mind yes, but he also speaks the truth unlike lying Ken... If you want a underhand weasel as your mayor vote for Ken, if you want the Ken gravy train to grind to a halt and bring in someone whose number one priority isn't himself, VOTE BORIS
I like Boris, I think he is personable, intelligent and will work for what is best. You don't even have to like him to vote for him though, just look at Ken "Jobs for the boys" Livingstone, would you want this man in power again?
COME ON PEOPLE - GIVE LONDON A B.J.

Regarding Boris and street art surely the illegality and sticking a finger up at the establishment is one of the reasons a lot of folk on here got into it?

does anyone here seriously think that the congestion charge was anything other than a tax? think you'll find that a vote for boris, is more a vote for 'anyone but ken' than for the man himself, ken is a meglomanic tyrant who is running london into the ground. vote ken, & vote for more tax for little or no benefit, somebody has to pay for his, & his cronies miscalculations.

Why not? Labour have had their chance and fucked up... time for a change and the Conservatives are the only viable alternative.

Banksy & Ken Livingstone, by richy00 on Apr 23, 2008 13:53:46 GMT 1, what we DO need is a tory government... i am very fucked off about the 10p tax band removal, im on placement in london next year and its going to cost me a good few grand. plus kens shitty congestion charge, the shit rules on london students oyster cards, the stupidness that on paying back a student loan the government keep all out repayments in a nice big back account that we pay in monthy and then they pay it to the studentsloans company at the end of the year having earned a good packet of interest. its time for change, a tory change.

Banksy & Ken Livingstone, by onemandown72 on Apr 23, 2008 14:08:12 GMT 1, Funny how there is now a whole generation who have no memories of the last long term tory government, and the belief that if the tories got in they would wave some magic wand and all would be right in the world. It is only now that we are really beginning to see the results of the 80's and the constant erosion of society, and the promotion of the individual over all else. As a Londoner, who now has moved away I cannot believe that Boris is considered a viable alternative to Ken. What does he really stand for? He is muzzled by Tory central office for fear of making a further media gaffe. Whilst I do feel Livingstone has overstepped the mark on many occassions it is madness to vote in someone else purely on the fact that Ken is bad. Any replacement should be on the basis of their policies, which they should be able to vocalise and debate in public.

Of course it's a tax, what else would it be? It's the priciple behind it that I'm all for.

Don't come to London, request your placement elsewhere that will save you money And as for the student loan scenario this was something put into place by the tories and I would imagine that you don't have intimate details of how the system works. Who covers all the students who fail/avoid to re-pay their loans? Should this be the taxpayer?

Quite right, few things off the top of my head.
1 in 10 unemployment 15% (think that's right) inflation negative equity causing 1000's of repossessions The Criminal (in)justice act

Whatever government is in charge will introduce a whole range of new taxes and money pinching methods to milk the working person in london for as much as they can.
