DFace Street Improvement Prints, by Avian Security on May 28, 2008 23:00:00 GMT 1, Another criticism I keep reading which jars a little is that D is a 'graphic designer' and uses Illustrator. Newsflash: your favourite stencil-artist-who-shall-remain-unnamed makes extensive use of Adobe products too. The fact someone uses a computer to produce an image is surely not a criticism. That would be a little like saying something was shit because it was painted in acrylics. Fair play if you don't like the images but criticising the method of production is just irrelevant.

DFace Street Improvement Prints, by Heavyconsumer on May 28, 2008 23:05:13 GMT 1, Winter good point. Jeepers, people are free to say what they like on a forum, telling them to "shut the fuck up" because you disagree is just pathetic and unintelligent! And saying one doesn't like something is a long long way from hating!
As for BRP, they should be ashamed of themelves! I've just read two thirds of this thread and got bored with reading how annoyed and frustrated most of you became while trying to buy these prints. It's clear that they still haven't bothered to get their database properly reorganised to cope with popular releases. They can't be skint, let's face it, they must either be too tight-fisted to sort out their IT/ordering systems or perhaps they can't find a capable IT consultant in London...... Well done for wasting all your customers' time and making the buying experience as stressfull as possible!

this is a the standard insult thrown at Dface and I think it comes from the believe that he rarely does stencils, instead the majority of his work falls into the paste up category. which is obviously easier to execute than a stencil. (depending on size of course)
in the past ive felt the use of Adobe etc as an easy way to create images quickly, but thats kind of what the ethos of street art is all about i suppose
get in. get out. before you get caught by the filth.

Utter, utter piffle. Is critiquing something any more of a waste of time than praising it?
For people who live in the real world, rather than people with ideas above their station because their login is coloured red, an open and engaging discussion of art will include criticism as much as it includes praise.

Not really, in fact I have to eat my words since I just heard a song on the radio I didn't like, called it shit, then remembered I can't play any instruments or sing.

You don't have to be a chicken to know a bad egg.
To try to claim that you cannot critically evaluate something just because you could not necessarily have created it yourself is ridiculous. Taking this argument to its nonsensical conclusion one would decide that, for example, you cannot have a postive or negative opinion on a song that you could not create.
Meanwhile, I will continue to maintain that in my opinion, these prints are garbage.

You apparently failed to notice, whilst formulating your reply, that I was agreeing with you. However if you want to carry on arguing the point go ahead, but you may be talking to yourself.
I should have been clearer, let me try again, what I meant to say was this:
Oh dear, I take it all back! I just heard a song I didn't like, and realised that I had the right to say that song was balls, despite having no musical ability myself.

DFace Street Improvement Prints, by Nicone on May 29, 2008 7:42:59 GMT 1, This print set just doesn't deserve some of the vitriol it's getting. Granted these pictures aren't going to make you see God or have an orgasm when you look at them, but they weren't really intended to were they? They're a visual gag, like most of D*Face's work. They're just an irreverent bit of fun and they're not pretending to be anything else, so why expect more? And more to the point, what gain is there to be had from slating them? This is my real gripe I suppose. Armchair critics. The superior attitude and haughty tone some people take when judging other people's efforts, when 99% of them are 100% lacking in any talent themselves. It's just a little tiresome and pointless, and invariably, depressingly negative. all that effort expended ripping into someone, when the same effort could have gone into looking for stuff you actually like, and telling people about that instead. That's what I mean by hater. Hater = critic. Later hater xx
Humourous, irreverence... That's my favorite part of d*Face art.

DFace Street Improvement Prints, by Macdeee on May 29, 2008 9:05:23 GMT 1, Im not a fan of them as a whole set and I wouldnt stump up the cash for the set or want them ALL on my wall. I picked up SI no 3 becasue its a classic straight on D*Dog just like all his stickers and paste ups and I like the colours. I also think these are the last of the prints and originals with this style of design work. I feel a new direction is coming with D*face. These are classics and will last the test of time in my opinion.

DFace Street Improvement Prints, by jamieb on May 29, 2008 9:18:43 GMT 1, I think they are all pretty lame, I queued at BRP print show for the new Dface release, got in there queued to the back room to choose, when I finally got there was totally disappointed, I'm a graphic designer and could do the same or better. Went in and told them not for for me. Think the guy couldn't believe I wasn't going to buy.
Dfaces' stuff at the print show was emperors new clothes as far as I am concerned cutting up spare prints and glueing back together is not worth ยฃ4K, he really does need to do something new.

DFace Street Improvement Prints, by dandb on May 30, 2008 10:21:08 GMT 1, Selling on ebay with three days left. Thought I'd bring awareness to it on this fourm because when I listed it, I didnt realise at the time that D face comes under a whole number of different listing results such as D-Face D*Face DFace etc. Therefore when I listed it as D-Face it doesnt come under the full search results.
Anyway here is the link:
cgi.ebay.co.uk/D-Face-Street-Improvements-5_W0QQitemZ110257042205QQihZ001QQcategoryZ360QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Time to buy one if you haven't already! My personal favorite out of the set.
