how important is 'registered owner' status?, by edcase on Aug 5, 2008 13:15:59 GMT 1, I thought this was probably the best place for this thread since it only really relates to people who are trading prints that have already been owned and registered by somebody.
I've recently bought a couple of nice pieces where I am the second owner. I have rock solid provenance for them, but should also make contact with Laz, SoS etc. to get them to update their records or is it irrelevant?
I assume I will also need the original owner to confirm me as the new owner if I do contact them?
thanks ed

While they may not, if the prints in question are by Banksy, Pest Control Office WILL update their records and provide a COA while they're at it. I understand that compiling a more accurate database of Banksy owners was considered a primary function of it's existence. Sadly, the service will also cost a fee (I think ยฃ50).
