why in dreweattes would they give his name as robin banks and it says ' all info has been given by the artists themselves or their representitives'. Unless they are both the same person using the mothers and fathers surname

wouldnt be a group . but banksy would most likly go out with 1 or 2 people to have as look outs, hold ladders, carry paint etc. obviously.

Banksy Exposed, by raiden on Jul 13, 2008 21:58:55 GMT 1, Read the long article. I say case all but closed. First the picture clearly features a stencil of his heart shaped balloon (which wasn't mentioned). Plus, he was in Jamaica at the time.
There are just way, way, way too many "coincidences" to be merely happenstance. When you read the full length article, it becomes pretty evident.
The woman who bought his old house seems to be the expert witness of it all, but there are so many coincidences, particularly in that early pre-2000 period - when the details of Robin Gunningham all correspond to the details of Banksy.
Granted, I won't say this article is 100% confirmation, but chances are well into the 90 percentile that Robin is at the very least someone integral to "Banksy as a team graffiti project" (paying credence to that theory) and more than likely Banksy himself.
I find it really odd that the story didn't get an ambush interview with Robin Gunningham himself. I'm surprised they couldn't track down where he's living knock on the door.
Now for the next steps: (and I'm not advocating this per se, just saying this is where to go next if you're a journalist)
1) Its just a matter of time before someone pulls immigration records for Robin and can match those up with known travel whereabouts for Banksy, i.e. LA, entering and leaving the West Bank for 2007 Santa's Ghetto etc. I'm surprised this hasn't been done already at this point.
2) Credit card receipts and financial records. I doubt that Banksy put a bunch of spray cans on his American Express, but its possible. All it would take is one enterprising art store to reveal Robin Gunningham put 200 spray cans on his Visa to further arouse suspicions (and technically, you can run paint analysis if you want to be a real t**t about it to get confirmation) Additionally, I'm not sure how Banksy does his banking, but if you saw large sums deposited at certain points, it would add evidence to the suspicion.
3) The flood gates can open with people selling him out. The main thing is that this targets the cash flow to sources. Whereas before tabloids would have to offer "cash for information about Banksy" which nets very little reliable information, now they can offer "cash for information about Robin Gunningham" which will ferret out the good shit.
Additionally, this "identity outing" can have a lot of legal implications for Banksy:
1) Taxes. I venture to guess that Banksy is not paying all his taxes if he was getting paid cash on many of his shows. I don't know about the UK, but if Banksy was a US citizen, the IRS would look up the Robin Gunningham in no time and start calculating all of Banksy's art sales and matching them up with Robin's stated income. You'll get thrown in the clink for being a tax cheat way before being a vandal.
2) Vandalism. I don't know what the statute of limitations are in Great Britain, but I assume there are still wankers who would at least charge Robin Gunningham with a vandalism. Honestly, he can pay his way out of it and given what his work has done for tourism, I'd be shocked if he couldn't make a case for a pardon if some township did try to target him.
3) Immigration. While world immigration laws are friendly to world renowned artistic geniuses, they aren't friendly to vandals. Its unlikely that this would be an issue in the absence of Banksy being charged with a crime, but I would be surprised if

Banksy Exposed, by duncanfearnley on Jul 13, 2008 22:22:49 GMT 1, you're missing the point that it's easy to assume banksy is a lot of things and a lot of people BUT until you can categorically rule out ALL other possibilities beyond all reasonable doubt, then it is merely circumstantial my friend.
no matter how many coincedences are thrown up.....

Banksy Exposed, by truth2012 on Jul 13, 2008 22:50:01 GMT 1, Nick walker is really Banksy, or he probably wishes he was. Why dont you all accept the truth instead of wishing your mythilogical figure would stay in the shadows. You can't play with the media and not expect to get exposed. life ain't like that. Why is Banksy in denial? Maybe he has a problem with who he really is. burn your stencils morons, stencil art is to graffiti what Bon Jovi is to Punk. Wake up fools, the game is over...would the real graffiti writers step forward.

dont these two images just prove it? You can see from the clothes and the stencil on the floor its the same person. Why would he be doing GWB if it was not banksy.
and if anyone says its some guy copying banksy thats it for this thread, whats even the point of it if no one can come to a conclusion.
Obviously people care enough about it to warrant almost 5 pages

Banksy Exposed, by Tiki on Jul 13, 2008 23:02:58 GMT 1, The one thing that makes me unsure about the pic is the fact he is so expossed. He dosen't just put himself in that sort of position and he's become an expert in keeping himself hidden for how long now? To me it dosent seem like he's particulary bothered who sees what in this picture?

Banksy Exposed, by low3 on Jul 13, 2008 23:06:03 GMT 1, So who is the real Banksy after reading this article Harry Potter Banksy?
Is it me, or do that photo and this one match up??
Still doesn't make it him though i spose. Think its sad the way a newspaper can hound someone and go to such lengths to 'out' someone who so obviously doesn't want the publicity and has worked so hard to stay out of the spotlight.
Bet he's absolutely pissing himself if that isn't him!!!

Banksy Exposed, by Tiki on Jul 13, 2008 23:12:09 GMT 1, I have no doubts whatsoever about the two pictures as there quite blatently the same person but once again its the scenario. He appears to be in a car park of sorts and in the middle of the day. Even if it was a mate who took the picture he still seems to be far to expossed
