Advise - Sending a BRP tube to USA with FedX!, by dogant on Nov 3, 2008 19:16:49 GMT 1, Hey - not really a sale, but relivant for a sales thread!
I am trying to work out a deal - sending a BRP tube/print to the USA - but I have never sent out of the country before.
The purchaser wants to use "Fed EX" - does anyone have an opinion/experience of this?
Other questions that could be answered......
1. Value - if you mark it - will it be taxed and will it only be insured for what you mark the value as?
2. BRP Tube weights - my home scales (designed for fat boys like me) - don't register a weight of one of the BRP tubes - Does anyone know the weight (ie. have you posted something before)
3. Any ebay/paypal advise - I remember reading something about non confirmed addresses - but I am not sure of the score?
4. Any other top tips?

2. its size that matters, not weight
3. confirmed addresses dont matter anymore

Advise - Sending a BRP tube to USA with FedX!, by Photoxtc on Nov 3, 2008 19:50:22 GMT 1, make sure you guys work out the cost of sending, it's obviously a big tube and will be a little costly to ship Via Fed Ex..
Also, we don't get taxed like you so no need to mark as a gift... insure for full amount and all should be fine...

I'd just send it insured delivery through the PostOffice depending on it's value. Should cost no more than ยฃ15-ยฃ20...

In my experience Royal Mail's registered insured international service is pretty efficient, trackable and MUCH cheaper than Fed-Ex (RM will be about ยฃ20 and Fed-Ex will probably be double that). You need to be 100% sure that the address is complete, or it can take weeks to receive the print by return! However, I've received various prints via Fed-Ex coming the other way and never had a problem, but always paid the appropriate tax (either 5% or 17.5%).
If your buyer demands Fed-Ex and wants to pay for it, why not?!?! If you call them up, they will give you a decent service over the phone, explaining all the costs and logistical information you need. In that respect they certainly do out-class RM imo!
