I arrived at 11.15 with one (of my 3 children).
Lots of familiar face in the small ish queue and a nice atmosphere.
Jose was charming. A true gent.
He spent 15 mins talking with me and my son about his work.
He signed a book for me and also signed my cityscapes book and dedicated it to my 3 kids.
Then, it was time to look at the work. Mesmerizing.
I will never forget the feeling when I saw the 'Hackney' piece in the separately lit room. Completely took my breathe away and gave me goose bumps. Unfortunately I have not had this reaction to much of the art we have all seen lately.
Had a great chat with Paul and going to go back this week to look at the piece again.
Truly amazing.
If you can go and see the how, you must. We are privileged to be involved in his career at such an early stage.
IMO he will become one of the greats and my son will be able to tell his grand children that he met him, shook his hand and had a great chat with him.

The book signing was well organised too, Jose was able to take his time and doodle away without a hord of people standing over him. It was nice that he was so friendly to everyone, even posing for pics for people with children! I wasn't a huge fan of his before the show but having seen his work in person it has to be seen to be believed, I'm converted! The amount of detail and depth of colour was quite awe inspiring. The strong smell of varnish on the big pieces was a nice effect too

Popped along myself yesterday & can only echo comments made. Charming guy, signed the book for my 2 year old who waited patiently with me for 20 minutes & was as down to earth as you could imagine.
You need to visit in person - I was unsure of his work before the Futura/Parla show last year, but his work pisses all over Futuras from a great height - stunning stuff..

Absolutely awesome show...best of the year so far for me! ;D
Def. worth seeing whilst you can even if you are not a Parla fan...you may find yourself pleasantly surprised.
Stand out pieces for me were 'Dance Dance' and 'Hackney canal'...simply breathtaking...
The books is beautifully put together, and worth picking up if you have any interest in Parla's work!

Brilliant guy. Excellent show too, am going back again next week for another look.
