Best place to sell a Parla, by graeme501 on Nov 16, 2008 1:31:33 GMT 1, from the stories ive heard, jose parla doesnt like his stuff resold or in auctions, so maybe private would be best at least taking some consideration into the artists wishes, would approaching elms be a good idea? im sure they would have a list of interested people

So artist can sell but don't like his art being resold again??? Doesn't make sense to me... Isn't that part of the game? It's not like Winter bought it just yesterday. Do what you have to do and good luck. Great piece by the way.

Its about etiquette and in some cases by not doing the right thing will mean you are never able to buy direct again.

Best place to sell a Parla, by EHC on Nov 16, 2008 19:54:40 GMT 1, I'm guessing you're trying to sell the one you screwed me out of. The one you agreed to sell to me via Auction Sab and via email. Then the day after, as I waited for your contact info, you posted it on this board looking for higher offers.
When I called you out on it, but still wanted to buy it, you still decided to pull out of the deal. That was a real b!tch move and I hope it stays unsold.

personally, I don't see the big deal as much more supposed buyers flake out on "agreements" than sellers. So many members on this forum have wasted my time. Unless he stole money from you I wouldn't say you got "screwed"? ...

Agree with that as well. However it doesn't change the fact that once you've bought it you can do whatever you want with it (unless the part of the deal was some kind of verbal or written agreement about that you can't sell for X years or you have to offer it the the gallery first). And of course, at the end of the day if you do sell, face the consequences .

When I called you out on it, but still wanted to buy it, you still decided to pull out of the deal. That was a real b!tch move and I hope it stays unsold. Well, that's ONE side of the story! What really happened was he asked for a price which many people also did. At NO point did I commit or 'agree' to any kind of deal. I said I had changed my mind and was going to hang onto it. This was 10 MONTHS ago so I did actually keep my word and keep it. If I had sold it to someone at a higher offer straight after I would accept why you may be upset but I didn't. You are bitter because like a lot of members on this forum you missed out on a piece of art you wanted. It has happened to me many times. I have also dealt with many members of this forum with no problems. The threatening abuse I received after was unacceptable and a bit pathetic (and probably against forum rules) but there you go. I'm sorry you haven't managed to move on nearly a year later.

Best place to sell a Parla, by jB on Nov 16, 2008 22:41:15 GMT 1, I see Parla as the modern day jackson pollack -- both of which did nothing for me when I first was introduced to their works (years apart obviously) -- however, the more and more I see these peices (up close in particular) the more and more I fall in love with them -- they really can capitavate you for hours upon hours
Good luck Winter -- it's one hell of a peice

Best place to sell a Parla, by Deleted on Nov 16, 2008 22:53:11 GMT 1, Parla is cool. Can't help but think he takes it too seriously though, or maybe others are just not as serious, i dunno but i sense his attatchment to his pieces from articles and stuff i have read. I've never met the guy so i cant really say much but i get that impression. But i would love one all the same.

Pollock redefined painting, Parla makes pretty pictures. I do actually like his paintings, but absolutely no comparison to Pollock.
