The missus can't stand it though and it's not really the kind of piece you can hide away in the corner for your own enjoyment whilst not pissing off the missus, especially in a London flat. In the framers in Stoke Newington recently he had one that he'd just stuck into a huge, ornate gold frame. It looked fantastic. Did it belong to anyone on here?

Case in point David Choe still available at outeredge, 6 months ago would have sold out fast..

& to get back to thread topic, Micallef prices hitting lows this weekend is perhaps just because there are other artists releasing lots of new work at the mo so his stuff is not getting as much attention lately. Certainly can't take it as any reflection of his talent.

Prices will rise again, the quality of the artwork will see to that, good time to buy, I am an obvious admirer but not buying as I have all the Micallef on my walls I want except one, Girl Tokyo.
So called admirers of his work won't buy at the moment as he is not a 'safe' investment! Just show's that they are buying for the wrong reasons, I paid face value for some of mine, higher for others, but I NEVER paid more than the individual piece was worth to me!!
If a Girl Tokyo comes available then I will be buying, madness not to at current prices!

Look you muppet. Micallef is one of the best artists in the country. Back a really bad bet? This ain't the stock exchange or the bookies. I was buying banksy's for £300 a couple of years ago because I loved the images, I wasn't thinking oooh that's a bad investment, how come his work isn't more valuable.? It is a good time for people to buy AM work now, I bought a piece of Micallef's two years ago for £300 and I had to sleep on it as at the time it still seemed a lot of money to me, however it was justfiable in the pleasure it's given me
All artists have peaks and troughs in their careers and it just bores me this idle speculation of who's next up to make me money. One print GIWTBB was probably responsible for this downturn in prices as the edition size was large, but hardly a reason to play judge jury and executioner. It's just that right now his work can be bought the masses which I'm sure he'd like rather than breadhead flippers looking for a quick return. How many more times? Buy what you like..

I have one one with some smears of watercolour on it from a jose parla pigment. I had the parla in a sleeve, took that out to get framed and put the JD in the same sleeve and it had left traces of the pigment.
Anyways, £500. Looks good!
