FS Micallef BETHLEHEM - SOLD, by jamieb on Dec 19, 2008 16:39:15 GMT 1, After only receiving it yesterday, yes I am selling my Bethlehem for a few reasons.
I know that PUD kindly sold his at cost a couple of days ago. But I'm not quite going to do that, my reasons being I went to London and buy my tickets to take part, rather than scoring the release online and this cost me money and effort.
I am also aware that I could simply return it to POW. This I believe would not help anyone who genuinely wants it on their wall.
So go ahead a start calling me names, but anyone who can pay cash and would genuinely like this piece PM me an offer over above cost and I'll consider it. Similarly if you feel you need to know my reasons send a PM and I'll furnish you with an answer.

FS Micallef BETHLEHEM - SOLD, by pezlow on Dec 19, 2008 17:08:14 GMT 1, I have quite a few offers coming in, if you are serious then please PM me. I'll give it 24 hours to give a chance for a few people to see it. Then I'll reply. Could you also please convince me that you actually want it. Would like to see it go to a loving home.
Don't normally respond aggressively but either do one of two things:
a) offer it at cost and then you can put whatever conditions you want on it going to a good home or
b) Sell it above cost in which case you are flipping it, whatever your reasons, and cannot take the moral highground about it going to a good home.

FS Micallef BETHLEHEM - SOLD, by horizonmike on Dec 19, 2008 17:24:07 GMT 1, Its none of our business why you are selling this. The thing is these are pretty much selling for cost on ebay so i don't think you will get much out of this deal anyway.

FS Micallef BETHLEHEM - SOLD, by baznyc on Dec 19, 2008 17:24:51 GMT 1, Given that the purpose of the PoW raffle was to raise money for a very good cause do you intend to donate any of your profits to SS?
I understand that economics mean that none of us ever have as much money as we'd like and guessing this is why you're selling (guess based on you saw the image in Willow St, so you must have known how it looked, so no surprises when you received it). However, in the spirit of the original raffle which was quite altruistic thanks to those involved, why not donate a decent % of your profits to SS.
Seems reasonable?

Equally it is none of the sellers business why someone wants to buy it from them. Why the fuck should they have to prove they are worthy buyers when buying above cost on the secondary market.

FS Micallef BETHLEHEM - SOLD, by jonpud on Dec 19, 2008 17:33:07 GMT 1, I know that PUD kindly sold his at cost a couple of days ago. But I'm not quite going to do that, my reasons being I went to London and buy my tickets to take part, rather than scoring the release online and this cost me money and effort. .
I went to London and didn't win anything, I didn't just simply score this off the internet!
Your print mate, you do what you want with it. If it were mine though I would offer it to Rillo at cost + postage and sit back and feel good about it, nothing lost but lots gained!

FS Micallef BETHLEHEM - SOLD, by jamieb on Dec 19, 2008 17:37:08 GMT 1, and so it begins.
Pez you've commented on my framed scary in another thread, so know that I put things on my walls. This won't make it, why keep it. Of course I saw the image at willow st. but my wife didn't.
No proof of worthiness now required. A mistake on part part stipulating this, I just thought it would help me decide between very similar offers, but I guess it'll just come down to logistics instead.

And with respect if you bought it from the POW site you did just score it off the internet regardless of whether you went to London or not.

FS Micallef BETHLEHEM - SOLD, by robinbanks on Dec 19, 2008 17:44:42 GMT 1, Don't know Rillo myself but if you want it to go to a good home you could do alot worse than Sahoria.
Check out this post of his (he seems like he really loves that image and would treasure it for a very long time)...
truthfully the bethlehem is such a striking art piece and when i saw on opening day had so many emotions come over me looking at it... anyone that went to the show can vouch for the same feeling.... the art piece is so bold and striking really been thinking about it alot... put post up about the meaning of it how i understood the image on another thread and for me think one of the most important art pieces i have seen for a long while... think captures a moment in time even though uncomfortable needs to be told..... just like to thank the members that contacted me about sale of bethlehem but i dont feel what i have to offer is enough... i got bad habit of keeping art pieces i buy as i actually really do love them... havent actually sold art piece since i have started but great rule for newcomers is dont buy outside of your means... you can make more money from one day shares dealings....rather than hoping on a print! the kindness i have seen from this forum has been amazing and i know alot have said what has this forum come too but from PM from people i can tell you there are really some fantastic people on here! informative people like wizbong/alsababar/mammal/onemandown/ronhill/ and new talent like hero really feel lucky that we can actually do this... talk about art via pm or on the boards is something that always drives me back... really cant write everyone i enjoy reading each day but there are so many on here and thank silky also... photoxtc helped me alot to begin with and could have easily brushed me aside but actually helped and for that truly grateful! micallef is one of the art pieces i think will really stand the test of time... i know banksy forum and everyone loves i do too but think this specific art piece will really turn heads for many more years to come.... i know there was alot of slating of pow aswell... but to be fair they didnt know no ghetto till few days before the show... it was them that decided to do the show and lottery and think they did do great job in the end... apart from BRP / frankie / there is not gallery that comes close... remember helped people get there site back and to me that is so amazing... to give someone the opportunity to see someone for the first time or there grandchildren is amazing.... this is all because of each and everyone of you aswell who went to the show or asked someone to go on your behalf... dont forget that... people talk about this forum going down hill but was upto you to turn upto london last week and buy those lottery tickets... short amount of time look what good things you did! this year we have seen vhils come about and apart from last print i think is stunning... his work at cans was amazing i thought... this is person who isnt even 20 yet! studying in london at the moment.... year has been fantastic with the show that have happened also! hera art show in san fran has to be one of the most amazing shows i have seen... thanks to fellow forum member managed to get original and really i do love it.... d* did say last show would have done santa ghetto and hope in future can do something with pow as i am sure for charity could raise good amount... i am actually hoping banksy/dface/nick walker combine and do something special next year... not for there own benefit but for a charity... i know josh keyes does alot of charity work also and apologies as this is going away from the thread but really take time out and actually see how many people and great artist contribute to this forum... likes of neverwork and rourke to newcomers like hero... love him or hate him cartrain created subjective art that got people talking... i think personally that is fantastic thing... i know sometimes feels like second arm of ebay on here but that is to be expected with the rise of hate to say it but urban art... remember silky started these forums many years ago before anyone could see profit could be made from bansky or any other artist... he has tried to adapt with the times and think he has done a fantastic job! i look at the likes of pud etc collection and it is inspiring... someone who purchased art because of the love for it rather than profit.... i have honestly met some great people on this forum and look forward to next year to see even more! just remember was lottery and we all did some good giving money to charity.... if there is one thing to read from this post is that you all played a part in that! wish you all fantastic night and even better weekend!....s
I'll drop him a PM anyway.

Not looking for an argument here Jamieb, we have spoken in the past and I wish you no bad will wotsoever.
But......think about what you say before you say it! I went to London, I had travel expenses, etc etc, I entered the raffle, I won nothing, I then invested HOURS F5ing to win my copy (albeit I wanted the Banksy) Basically your reasons don't hold water, I had the same expenses as you, I am not looking to recover them from others.
Like I said mate, your print, do what you want, nothing more to say on the subject!

FS Micallef BETHLEHEM - SOLD, by horizonmike on Dec 19, 2008 18:14:36 GMT 1, Its none of our business why you are selling this. The thing is these are pretty much selling for cost on ebay so i don't think you will get much out of this deal anyway. Equally it is none of the sellers business why someone wants to buy it from them. Why the f**k should they have to prove they are worthy buyers when buying above cost on the secondary market. good point Pezlow.

Although saying that, I think it is an amazing print and will be trying to bag myself one at some point after spending a week f5ing POW after the open day but being in bed when the print was actually released. Not that I'm bitter.....
