i think people forgot the fact that DFace is a graphic designer by trade and profession. he has progressed his work onto the street but im sure he would tell you himself the basis of his work is graphic design theres no debate here just accept his work as it appears, you like it or you dont, pay his prices or dont, theres no denying hes popular

A Mac user.
On a serious note, isnt it easier to pass yourself off as an artist with the advancement of technology without ever having picked up a paint brush?
I think so, its lazy art in a way, though it doesnt of course make it less vaild.

Reminds me of a programme on Gilbert & George from a few months back. I would say their work was pretty Graphic in more ways than one and their studio had a load of Macs and large scale HP printers.

That's a very old fashioned view about what an artist should be. Long before the computer was in public use artists had shied away from the traditional media of paint on canvas. It sure as hell doesn't make them lazy.
Look at it this way. Let's say you are an artists who paints wildlife. What's the creative process that goes on in your head when you are painting, say, a tiger. Do you think - Right I am now going to paint the best tiger that has ever been painted, it is going to be so much better than the 10,000 other tigers that have been painted by artists before me.
Now compare that with the conceptual art of today, or minimalism, or cubism or indeed any art that challenged the boundaries of what is art - it's all about new thought and new ideas. To think up something novel and thought provoking is not lazy, however quickly you are then able to execute the idea.

It wasn't too long ago that many considered stencil techniques not to be art. Street art has changed what people precieve as art, and this will continue to change.

he obviously has an artistic eye and in that sense he is an artist, but is he as talented as someone who doesnt need rely on computers to turn that thought into an image.
anyone can learn to use photoshop etc well, not everyone can learn to paint or draw to a high standard..
without this technology where would he be?
