Faile/FairQ Update, by Deleted on Jun 29, 2008 5:03:36 GMT 1, Posted on the Blog page of Fairq.com "June 28 2008 Fale Prints and Originals Sales Event FairQ is proud to partner with Faile (www.faile.net) for their next limited edition prints and originals sales event. Here's how you can participate: - Register for an account on www.fairq.com - Sometime on 6/30/08, Faile will create links to specific Qs from their site www.faile.net. FairQ will NOT provide any details about the Qs from the FairQ site. You must go to www.faile.net to access the Qs - Once Faile publishes the Q links on their site, you simply click on the link to go to the appropriate Q for the artwork you would like to purchase. - Click the "Join this Q" button to register for the lottery of the piece you would like to purchase. Note: You must meet the buyer profile qualifications in order to register for the lottery. Go to the "My Qs" link (http://www.fairq.com/home/myq/dashboard) and click on the My Profile button on the top left side of the page (http://www.fairq.com/home/myq/profile) There you can add additional details to your profile - That's it! After you successfully register, FairQ will notify you if you won the lottery or not. Good luck! FairQ "

Faile/FairQ Update, by Gentle Mental on Jun 30, 2008 9:58:38 GMT 1, Does having a queue system make the prices more "street" - ie more attainable?
As the whole idea of q kinda kills the flippers, ie. no need to raise prices to ward off flippers?

You would think it would. Don't expect them to be cheap - they are still fairly expensive.

Faile/FairQ Update, by wonkeydonkey on Jun 30, 2008 10:23:13 GMT 1, I got an original for $1500 (750 pounds) in the last lottery back in November, and i think that was about the cheapest thing there. (it was quite small though 30cm x 23cm).
Wouldn't be surprised if the prices have headed slightly north of that though.

Considering these usually go for £2K-£4K on the secondary market I would be surprised too. However you never know with Faile. Usually they price their work just below the market value and create something for 'everyone'. We'll find out soon.

Faile/FairQ Update, by jones27 on Jun 30, 2008 10:54:16 GMT 1, Faile creating something for everyone is the papermonster prints with little handfinishing. I would expect the more traditional Failes (with lots of handfinishing etc) to be around 1k upwards.

I reckon there will be some for the £750 range. Starting at £2k prices the majority of people out of the market. That's what I hope! ;D

Faile/FairQ Update, by graeme501 on Jun 30, 2008 11:32:39 GMT 1, i dont see why faile should price their low edition hand finished prints at 1k when they are selling for 3k on ebay, they released the papermonster print and will be releasing the tate ed.315 aswell which is more affordable

Well if they are going to price them at the market rate they wouldn't bother with a lottery system. This itself indicates to me they will be selling them below their eBay value.
We shall see

Faile/FairQ Update, by graeme501 on Jun 30, 2008 11:38:58 GMT 1, i thought the point in the lottery system was that every1 has an equal chance and the opertunity to look at the prints and see which 1 you really want
IMO i dont think the ed.315 will sell out straight away, think people will wait and see what's being released on the lottery, the past few failes from papermonster and POW has shown that there is no profit for flippers on the higher edition failes

Exactly my point. If it was being sold at the market rate value then you would be able to look and take your time. The reason you can't take your time normally is because they are sold below the market value and there is excess demand. Basic economics.

so how would you explain the papermonster release selling out instantly and people struggling to sell them for cost ?

Faile/FairQ Update, by graeme501 on Jun 30, 2008 11:51:40 GMT 1, not by much at all, especially when you take ebay fee's into account
faile have enough fans now and enough people looking for an investment that they will sell out at £3k if the image is right
