POW Open Day • 2008, by darrenrapley on Dec 7, 2008 9:52:05 GMT 1, Long long day... Got to Aquarium at 11am, got some bits there, then went to POW, queued for two and a half hours to get tickets....
(About 3/4's of the way there), had veggie burger on way...
Couldn't face the extra 1-2 hours to get into the gallery so went to see Steph at Stella Dore to pick up my new Eine, had a chat there, went to the Sickboy show (not my cup of tea) then went to BlackRat Press to see what is on show there.
Had a quick beer in The Dragon bar and then back to Aquarium to pick up a couple of Reid's that I bought earlier.
Shattering day.
My only piece of advise for anyone going to POW today just to buy tickets would be to keep an eye out for the queue for the tickets as this is different than the one for the gallery. Basically, the gallery queue is the longer one.

POW Open Day • 2008, by I like pictures on Dec 7, 2008 10:10:32 GMT 1, Technically it couldn't be for each print because if the Mics are of 150 and the first 2 are given away then the next 150 optioned out that makes the edition of 152. I think it would mean across the three prints. Either that or pow could have more unhappy people missing out on a print they've been offered. Either way doesn't matter atleast they would have raised a good sum for the charity and this seems a better way than on-line bunfight, although it would have been good to be able to enter on line. That way you could keep it to 20 max per person.

Dora had promsied a friend of mine who couldnt make it that someone could buy tickets for him. i tried and was told that i could buy tickets for him, but i couldn't buy tickets for myself if i did this. so he had to go without.

POW Open Day • 2008, by richy00 on Dec 7, 2008 11:05:50 GMT 1, if you really wanted to you could buy 20, come back an hour later and buy another 20 for someone else.. but I don't think it's worth buying more than 20 simply because the odds are so low of winning.. I reckon they will sell 60000.... giving you a 1/3000 chance...s**t odds but someone has to win and good money for charity

POW Open Day • 2008, by georgec7 on Dec 7, 2008 11:23:28 GMT 1, Also got this one - they were on sale at the book stall - 4 of them originally although one had sold out by about 4.30pm.
They are on thin paper - luckily I had a tube from my BTOY purchase so they went in that - they are about 2ft by 3ft in size!

It won't be far off as this is only 3000 ticket buyers providing these odds. i reckon they could have that for each day.

POW Open Day • 2008, by brun on Dec 7, 2008 13:54:57 GMT 1, most of the melee surrounds the banksy lottery , i think most people were not interested in anything else judging what i saw this morning : as it opened , the Q split and 150 headed for the lottery and 3 headed for the print room ! got a nice eelus it has grown on me (to add to the bast of yesterday).........
lots of flippers, and i guess people who only know bansky and only want banksy cos they saw it in the newspapers......

POW Open Day • 2008, by Standard on Dec 7, 2008 13:56:12 GMT 1, Not sure on the exact odds but figuring that 3000 buyers spent £20 per head then they are going to be long.
Well it looks like the raffle is going to be a success with raising money for Sightsavers but how long is it going to be before the flippers cotton on to the lucrative raffle idea?
It would be a great idea to try and get some kind of monthly/quarterly raffle going on here, obviously for charity, but lets say a print/original was acquired and held up for a charity raffle, you would have to have been a member for so long and a tenner a ticket with a max of two to three tickets each.
