POW Open Day • 2008, by afwi on Dec 7, 2008 14:08:25 GMT 1, I arrived at around 11, was able to buy raffle tickets 2,5 hours later, thanks to very nice people in the q. I also went for a black Cyclop figure and a few VNAs zines. Entered POw about one hour later after a veggie burger... Regarding the works, the Insect on aluminium was probably one of the best (which I noticed as it had just sold out...). The Bast Popeye prints are great: the very special edition of 5 (£750), less dark than the black one, has sold out but there was still a few black ones (£600) when I left. The regular edition of 140 is also great, as well as the Mickey Revolution (silver, gold and slate, between £300 & £400 I think, low runs, from 20 to 80 if I remember correctly). And the Vhils is the best after (or with should I say) the Bast, £335 for a run of 65, with a different red background on each...

POW Open Day • 2008, by snakes on Dec 7, 2008 15:34:33 GMT 1, I went today and it was pretty quiet.
Treated myself to two stickers and 15 Banksy lotto tickets - which are a bloody mission to fill in with a biro and frozen hands!
Only had to wait 5 mins for the tickets and about 2 mins to go into POW.

POW Open Day • 2008, by Billy Sport on Dec 7, 2008 16:12:29 GMT 1, ditto, got there at 10:30, had my wife and baby with me. no queue at all when we left, to try and get in mutatebritain (wasnt open at 12:30)...think they had 4 or 5 of the bast black popeyes left. few originals/specials still for sale...
if 60000 tickets sold for banksy and 150 prints on offer, chances of winning are 1 in 400..

Actually, assuming everyone who bought the 60000 tickets bought 20 each, essentially that's 3000 entries, divided by 150 prints make the odds about 1 in 20.

POW Open Day • 2008, by veralynn on Dec 7, 2008 16:31:37 GMT 1, Good to see some bloody accurate maths from pffffffffft - and I'm actually not sure that 3000 people rocked in over the two days,,,,,I think it would be less than that thereby increasing the chances for those who entered.
Do think these will be flipped to kingdom come, I'd love to be proved wrong.

POW Open Day • 2008, by bullet on Dec 7, 2008 16:45:12 GMT 1, i reckon there would be around 2-3,000 for the banksy no way in hell there is 60,000 just for that.
have you ever been to a football stadium and seen 60,000 people? not even close.

My personal estimation is 40K tickets purchased, assuming 20 per person for a total of 2000 total entries. Puts the probability rate around 1 in 13.
Now, lets say they release the full run via lottery, puts the odds at 1 in 7.

POW Open Day • 2008, by shower on Dec 7, 2008 17:33:28 GMT 1, i went yesterday, got there at 5 to 11 and was in the queue for 3 hours to get into the print rooms! was stood on my own wearing a black coat and jeans (same as everyone else!). i was behind 2 guys, one had a black and grey addict coat on, behind me was a guy and blonde girl im sure i recognise from somewhere and they were chatting to a guy who knew all the pow crew well, think his name was ali. would be good to put names on here to faces now!
once in didnt really know what to check out first. there was a lot i liked and im glad i stuck it out in the queue. love the thomas tank engine, the banksy photos and the insect edition of 12 looked amazing. also loved the blu sketches but for 1500 they were pretty bluddy small! i also really liked the sam3 prints on silver paper and on card. low editions and they looked amazing, really well printed but i couldnt quite afford 400 for one. i did however buy a blu print. its called headquarters and is very similar to the one on the tate. as soon as i saw it i fell in love with it and couldnt stop looking at it, i think its fantastic and is very good value for 200 quid. it wasnt priced up so i asked one of the pow guys who said it was a 5 colour screenprint, it looks handfinished but isnt, i love it. he also said blu was currently finishing a batch of completely handfinished ones, he had apparently already done 20 but the guy said they had already been pestering him for some more but hes a busy guy!
after checking out all the work i headed outside and bought some postcards, picked up some stickers and bought a blue t shirt with the pink design by titfreak on it. was tempted by a cyclops figure but instead just stuck to 20 banksy tickets then fucked off home, caught the second half of united and hit the casino for my mates 22nd! good day all round!

POW Open Day • 2008, by kristakis on Dec 7, 2008 17:54:45 GMT 1, the bast popeye print was easily my fav - prefered the white larger edition size though - found myself battling with my conscious at the time as to whether i was being influenced by the hype of the situation and trying justify the 3 hour wait..
brain won unfortunately.. regret not picking one up.. did they sell out?
fun game to play in line - spot the flipper. made time almost fly by...

POW Open Day • 2008, by dumpsuk on Dec 7, 2008 18:01:34 GMT 1, Insider information... at close of yesterday there were approx 8,000 tickets sold in total. There were also only 25,000 tickets (not sure if this was in total or just for the banksy). I'm not sure what the turnout was like today, but it was probably not as high as yesterday... someone else do the maths....

spot the flipper was easy, they were the ones leaving after 10mins with younger guys who looked a lot like their sons allowing them to buy 40tickets!
