POW Open Day • 2008, by buddings on Dec 10, 2008 13:55:18 GMT 1, i haven't posted in a while but i think its worth saying that i would quite happily of sacrificed the banksy prints for the LA show and pet store to be in uk. its sad how the thread for the nola release was over double the length of the pet store thread, it shows how many people just want to make some money than appreciat his art. ridiculous

POW Open Day • 2008, by retardthebear on Dec 10, 2008 13:56:01 GMT 1, for my it has to be blu headquarters. as soon as i saw i had to have it, its a fantastic print, great quality and so interesting to look at and explore
Arr yes that one was cool as well. Stood outside tate for ages looking at that one. Did have a little fantasy about buying it to reproduce the side of the tate in my house, but realised I'd then have to put a picture of a man with his willy out on my wall and knocked it on the head

POW Open Day • 2008, by Weegis on Dec 10, 2008 14:22:07 GMT 1, I live in the US - of course I am sad that it appears I will not have a chance at bagging a VLH. Actually, I'm more sad that what i really wanted was a Micallef Bethlehem and to see one on the 'Bay already is crushing. However, I did bag a Nola and yes my greed tells me sure bring on another release and the images make it even more so. I am thankful to have had the chance to get any of these prints due to time difference. Just look at the banner above you, be thankful you're not trying to bag a print at 2AM in China, or 4AM in Australia bud.....
PS - The topic of this thread reminds me what I hate about America and Americans in general and why I am at times embarrassed to be one.

Whoa, whoa, whoa Weegis... Just as Welshboy isn't typical of all those from Wales, neither is this jamessmith joker representative of most Americans... I've seen alot of sourgrapes from tons of people on both sides of the Atlantic and from those in other areas too... be embarrassed for Jamessmith but not for being an American. be the anti-Jamessmith and there will be no need to be embarrassed ;D

POW Open Day • 2008, by retardthebear on Dec 10, 2008 14:38:39 GMT 1, I remember sitting on the POW website looking at Banksy prints ages ago and seeing all sorts on offer. But I didnt buy and becasue i thought £50 odd was expensive (Chump!). So i got a Faile Bunny Girl for £25. I have since missed every oppertunity to get hold of one whether that be asleep, at work or just kak-handed at the F5 game. I first herd of NOLA on this forum, checked POW and long sold out. My reaction? Eh, get the next one! (or try!!) Its only paper, and half the reason people want one so bad is because they are sold under cost. To think i couldnt pull the trigger when they were under £100 lol... oops

POW Open Day • 2008, by sahoria on Dec 10, 2008 15:28:56 GMT 1, just called -
1, the lottery has pretty much ended so if you havent received email by now big chance that you havent won.
2, about if you have option to buy one of each if they have picked your name was told is a pretty general question so think if you manage to get two wins one for banksy and one for micallef try your chances and see if it goes through.
if someone has won both and got bethlehem they do not want please let me know...
just hoping people dont forget it is for charity and as any other gallery when they do prints etc they cannot keep everyone happy. There is i am sure more to come before the end of the year so dont give up hope and it is pure luck getting one and will have fingers crossed ones that did not win like myself get more lucky next time around....
if you look at how many people from the forum won one it is alot more higher than previous sales... congrats again to everyone that was lucky enough to get one!...s

POW Open Day • 2008, by micko on Dec 10, 2008 16:04:02 GMT 1, Lately I tried to purchase a Shep print that was combined with a new Animal Farm book release that Penguin Publishers released in the UK. The transaction wouldn't go through because I was using a US credit card (I'm in NYC).
With so many people bitching about prints, POW could employ the same sort of online approach: first - take their email database and determine a ratio-to-country of potential purchasers of an highly desired online print and 2. allocate a certain amount of prints to a country and 3. lock out a country, similar to what Penguin did, when their quota is met.
thoughts?

POW Open Day • 2008, by cashman on Dec 10, 2008 16:15:16 GMT 1, I dont understand why people are complaining...POW always hold some kind of christmas event, what would people be saying if the ghetto went ahead in some far flung country? some people had the sense to have a pot of money ready for what ever eventdid...flight money etc. You can get a return flight to the uk from most european countries for less than £100 and a flight from the states is only £250...the dates were released at least 1 week before the event too. If you were intrested in seeing art you could have made the effort....if you were only intrested in owning it, its most likely your one of the people complaining now

Interested in both seeing and owning the aforementioned actually. I'm hardly going to leave my diary free for the whole of December in the hope that POW do something and I can't always arrange things with a weeks notice unfortunately. Likewise, I'm not likely to spend a small fortune travelling to London just to take part in a lottery.
I'm not saying POW can do anything about it as they are in a no win situation due to so many people wanting their product. All I am doing is having a whinge as per the the thread title
By the way, there are too many 'I got one' posts on this thread. This is for whingers!

their customer service after buying something is very efficient, but its not their fault so many people are after the same thing and some people were not going to get anything, but the point of each ghetto is charity.
If this had been a charity for sight savers and the banksy was not there i very much doubt many of you would have bothered going. Why? Well people know why but don't admit it - mainly because they think they are different to everyone else.
