No one knows where he will strike but prolific stencil graffiti artist Banksy (aka Robert Banks) from Bristol, England, will make a much anticipated ”Barely Legal” L.A. appearance (or at least his work will) on September 15-17 at a super secret location that won’t be disclosed until the day of the event. Banksy uses different techniques to communicate a message, which is often political and/or humorous. His original street art form, which combines graffiti with a distinctive stencilling technique, has achieved a certain underground notoriety and widespread coverage in the mainstream media.
You may recognize his work around Los Angeles as of late; it’s speculated that he’s been spending time here with some of our local artists. But Banksy’s technique is an interesting take on graffiti, normally a free-form art. And who can resist that adorable stenciled rat or the humor of it all?

Could be a wind up but heard it from a source very close to the organisers and it seems to fit in with having live animals at events (cow and rats)

I've been a banksy fan for a while, but only from a distance (all I see are photos from the web, his books, and snapshots of works on eBay that I can never afford) until recently when he's been tagging a handful of locations here in LA. What can I expect from the show? I'm pretty sure he's not gonna be there (even if he is, he'll probably be disguised). Can I take pictures? Will there be anything for sale? What about freebies (I'm trying my luck here)? Would appreciate some input from all you seasoned fans!  I am so there!!!

that is a pretty affordable 'artform' I think
as for LA.... don't know what will be there - have just been advised that it will be very good and would be worth going if I could (i think i've pretty much given up on my idea to go )
People took photos at Turf war and Crude Oils so maybe you will be allowed in LA??

People are gonna think that's a bloody stupid waste of a trip to London, but I've been wanting to do that for a long time and I don't friggin' care.
I cannot wait for the LA show. I'm definitely gonna be bringing my camera with me. Since it's not gonna be a snooty 'real gallery' art show, I figure nobody's gonna care about pictures... right? Besides, Banksy's a street artist (for the most part), and I would imagine that the more people see his work, the better. I think.

Shouldn't you the buy the art you like? Banksy pieces with humour seem to do well, political messages like CND are good etc.

Record shops & trendy clothes/skatestuff type shops are always a good bet for flyers & posters. Look up 'Fat Beats' Records for one, if there's nothing there I'll be surprised.
As for £ 50 for a show poster, I'd consider that a bargain actually
