Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by hankpank on Sept 14, 2006 20:35:23 GMT 1, Oh, how I wish I was in LA right now. Great pieces at the exibition and if there's prints too I'm gonna cry.
Here's picture of most artwork I guess: www.flickr.com/photos/45208212@N00/
Cut and paste the link! All pix are available in hi-res (but maybe you have to register?).

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by mido on Sept 14, 2006 23:55:13 GMT 1, why? It happened before, at hackney (london). The animals got too hot and were taken away.
if you were that size and should be living in India, would you like to be painted, and stuck in a small warehouse space?

It would suck 'cos they'll be outside protesting and attacking visitors, and maybe get the show shut down or something. I'm all for being against animal cruelty, but those people are way too extreme. As for the elephant, well, as long as he's not suffering or anything I guess it shouldn't be too bad... in the zoo, he'd be stuck in a limited space too. And the weather tomorrow's gonna be nice and cool. Not trying to start a debate here, just my two cents.

There's no point arguing about where the show is located.

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by monochrome on Sept 15, 2006 17:06:49 GMT 1, so are we any nearer in identifying the images on the 6 prints that are being touted as sold out in LA?
or is just a wind up?
if they have sold out of the 100 edition prints, then i'm sure the other 650 of them will be on sale in the uk soon...... i hope!

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by guerillaart on Sept 15, 2006 17:19:04 GMT 1, Went to the preview show last night and have to say that I was blown away by what I saw. Don't ever think Banksy was losing it, this show and his new work takes him to an all new level. Forget all about painted elephants, it was the new prints and new canvases that stole the show. So for all of us starved for new prints get ready for the fact that there are 6, that's right 6, new prints coming out - these are called 'Applause' (F16 taking off from aircraft carrier), 'Punks not dead' (2 grannies knitting jumpers), 'Capitalism' (people queing to buy overpriced t-shirts), 'Hunters' (an updated and more detailed shopping trolleys), 'I can't believe you morons actually buy this shit' and 'sale ends today'. Personally, I would say that 4 out of the 6 are some of the best work he's ever done. 100 copies of each print were on sale last night and sold out straight away. As for the canvases they were immense. New paintings of the 6 prints were massive standing at around 8 x 15 ft in size, some even larger. There were other new pieces as well and some old favourites such as 'Laugh Now', 'Kissing Coppers', 'Happy Choppers' and 'Girl With Balloon'. I'm going back today with my camera and so I'll try and get some photos posted later on today. Now don't anybody go Macaronying their pants now!
