Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by guerillaart on Sept 15, 2006 17:26:02 GMT 1, I was at the preview. The six prints sold out in about 90 mins, 2 or 3 of them really really good, two grannies knitting and shopping trolleys. (But I guess everyone will have their own favourites) It was a mega show, firmly placing Banksy in the champions league. Going back today just to make show what I saw yesterday was real. Still blown away, it really was unbelievable.

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by Daniel Silk on Sept 15, 2006 17:31:48 GMT 1, Went to the preview show last night and have to say that I was blown away by what I saw. Don't ever think Banksy was losing it, this show and his new work takes him to an all new level. Forget all about painted elephants, it was the new prints and new canvases that stole the show. So for all of us starved for new prints get ready for the fact that there are 6, that's right 6, new prints coming out - these are called 'Applause' (F16 taking off from aircraft carrier), 'Punks not dead' (2 grannies knitting jumpers), 'Capitalism' (people queing to buy overpriced t-shirts), 'Hunters' (an updated and more detailed shopping trolleys), 'I can't believe you morons actually buy this s**t' and 'sale ends today'. Personally, I would say that 4 out of the 6 are some of the best work he's ever done. 100 copies of each print were on sale last night and sold out straight away. As for the canvases they were immense. New paintings of the 6 prints were massive standing at around 8 x 15 ft in size, some even larger. There were other new pieces as well and some old favourites such as 'Laugh Now', 'Kissing Coppers', 'Happy Choppers' and 'Girl With Balloon'. I'm going back today with my camera and so I'll try and get some photos posted later on today. Now don't anybody go Macaronying their pants now!
Great Work! GuerillaArt ;D
arrhhh, I wonder if maybe they will sell 100 of each PER DAY? Thats how I would do it If your over in LA keep an eye out
GuerillaArt, Thanks again! ;D

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by RBK on Sept 15, 2006 17:58:19 GMT 1, Why are there 2 strings for the LA Show? Can someone senior merge them?
Now onto the important question...
Can anyone confirm or deny that all the prints have sold out??
That would be so messed up if they were all gone before the exhibit actually opened to the public!
Please give me some good news and if anyone wants to meet up at the show this afternoon email me and it will go to my blackberry.

Sorry about the two threads I can't merge them But I have now moved them all into a new "Banksy Shows & Exhibitions Section to try and help the situation ;D
On the Prints front Lets hope maybe POW will be doing some of the same images for the UK buyers Well I can dream

Hehe, if there are more copies of the 6 prints to buy, max out your card & get all 6, you'll have no trouble getting your money back on the ones you can't afford from those of us who couldn't make it [Dibs on Applause & Sale ends today if they're not ones you like]

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by Hoops on Sept 15, 2006 21:16:38 GMT 1, *************************************************** Bad news all the prints were a limited edition of 100 for the US shows ..guess that means that we will all have to buy from ebay ***************************************************** *******************UPDATE************************* All the work around the warehouse has sold out ie canvases etc Angela and Brad bought 8 canvases yesterday......the spray painted van sold for 500000 ....prints still available ***************************************************** 1 of my US buddies is presently queing up to buy some prints ..........the rumours say there are only 40 left and whether that is todays quota or overall i dont know, but they have to return tomorrow to collect them. He said he had to laugh as there are quite a few rental cars in the lot ....meaning all the forum members are over there trying to snap a bargain. Anyway i would much rather be here in rainy england with a suspended ebay account and a pulled barcode sale. ( from a former printsuk )

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by prettyvacant on Sept 15, 2006 23:26:18 GMT 1, Got back from the show just recently. This is the information we were given just before they started selling:
unsigned editions of 100 (unless he feels like it between now and when we pick them up
images never to be printed again
60 were sold Thursday night, the line was cut off, and the rest were sold today
Still a long line when I left, and the prints were already selling out.
Also, no charge to get in, photography and video was allowed, good sized crowd for a weekday afternoon =]

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by Ågent ßacardi on Sept 16, 2006 0:06:34 GMT 1, prettyvacant and faded42o: I spoke to the both of you, I was the asian guy in the striped shirt right behind you two
The show was pretty friggin' amazing... you know that there's gonna be a living elephant in there, but you don't really know what it's like until you see it. Spent most of my time in line waiting for the prints, but it's worth it. When I left at around 2:30pm, 3 of the prints had sold out ("Applause", "Grannys", and "Trolley hunters"), and the remaining 3 ("I can't believe you morons buy this shit", "Festival", and "Sale ends")were running pretty low. I would imagine that they're probably gone by now. And yep, they were $500 a pop, unsigned, numbered.
As far as I know, only 2 canvases remain unsold, the one that faded42o talked about (I think it's called 'I hate watching TV during dinner' or something like that), and the 'Me vs. Seen' one (did I get that name right?). We can thank Brad Pitt for spending half a million dollars on a bunch of them last night. Not that I had $100,000 to spend anyway, so I don't really care.
My favorite piece was the one where the TV crew was filming that crying girl. That one was just magnificient. If you've yet to go to the show, Banksy tagged a warehouse door a few doors down the street (on the opposite side). It's a CCTV camera with the words "They're watching you". Closer to the warehouse, there's a masked boy hanging onto a floating balloon at the top of the building. Also close to the CCTV camera (right next to it, actually), someone drew a picture of an elephant with a speech bubble, "How much for the elephant?".
My very first Banksy show!!! I'm so glad he chose LA!!!! ;D

All I'd say to that is wait and hope POW ring true! But the chances of getting one even tougher now with over 1100 just on this site alone...(note to silky, can we delete any known Paris Hilton fans??? Which means no more prints that take 3 years to sell out...ever! Be lucky if its 5 mins even online now. And I sort of pissed on it from a great height by giving POW a free advert POW POW POW POW POW POW POW.
Well, I live in hope.
