t minus 30 mins and counting..., by baldwin on Aug 28, 2007 23:03:22 GMT 1, Wow and the guy was getting such a beating a little while ago on this forum, now is being recognised as being a significant artist within a celebrated field. Amazing how fortunes can change. Still, it was a bad osama. ;D
I must admit I have been banging on about his stuff recently. Only because I think there are tons more people on here that may really like it. He is quite young and to me seems pretty established (I'm no expert though) I love the rawness of his work. There is some really interesting stuff on his site.
These are his sites: www.derekshumate.com/ www.artfortruth.info/ www.flickr.com/photos/shumate/sets/72157594281910591/
I bought the live free pieces of the artfortruth site. 15 quid each Well chuffed!

He's a changed man ;D Lots of new people don't know the ways of the forum, and when his work got slated like that I don't blame him for being hostile.
He's actually a pretty cool bloke - Creating lot's of lovely cheap art instead of bitching about money (that's not directed at you JBoy)

Baldwin are you Derek's publicist/agent? (I'm just kidding by the way).
I like his mixed media collage work. Though I don't think $1000 is necessarily cheap.
The live free pieces are cheap mind you, but don't rock my boat.

I am trying not to sound like his agent, but am failing ;D
I think he would be very suprised at the $1000 price tag. I think he is very much out of touch with that world (galleries). When I asked about that piece he apologized for directing me to a gallery because he has never done it before. There seems to be large price differences. I know this stinks of hype, hype, hype, but I am just giving you all the info I have acquired, for those who are interested.

t minus 30 mins and counting..., by ambrosiabaptism on Aug 29, 2007 9:31:41 GMT 1, How about setting up a 'Faile Swap' thread for those who got caught up in the action and then saw a print they preferred an hour later. Nothing to do with flippers just swapping for something of more interest to a particular person. Until any of us actually receive a print though it's all up in the air. LOL, you bought "stab" didn't you ;D ;D ;D
Stab rocks! Admittedly its seems not to be in the Faile classic line but I think its got a real Bast/Jamie Reid influence....

True, but a few of the pictures weren't showing for me when browsing through their site... quite understandable with all the hits they must have had.

Thanks for the pics, I was trying to find out what this was called as apart from Faile mary this was second best IMO.
How much was it, I was to busy talking to another member whilst the whole thing was going on. a good thing really as it stopped me spending.
