no more neate prints?, by numusic on Oct 9, 2007 10:01:49 GMT 1, don't quote me on this. not trying to upset anyone or cause a stir, but just been reading through some posts on WC and there seems to be some speculation that there will be no more neate prints. don't know whether that has been picked up here. doesn't seem to have been
I'm selling a batch of Ian Francis on ebay.. oh, and by the way, have you heard.. there'll be no more prints EVER from Francis, so it's buy them now or forever regret !

Mike. I don't care if it's true or not.
What I am pointing out is what could be achieved with right words at the right time. AN prints were selling for a half to the price they were selling 2 months ago.
Then there is this 'announcement' and bang. Suddenly AN is bouncing back and people are going frenzy buying before it's too late.
So I reckon Elms is not bad in the PR after all
Personally I think it would be a good move. (Not that it will change my mind of not buying his prints).

Elms have no PLANS to produce anymore Neate prints, they're not a print house but a commercial gallery. Why does this news surprise anyone ?
If Adam wants to make a print, he will. If he wants to make a little man in a bottle, he will, if he wants to spray paint a train, he will... forget about the business for a minute and you'll see it's not all smoke and mirrors.. It depends on what the artist creates. Personally the end of the Neate Giclee hype can only be a good thing for everyone involved. They're pretty meaningless to the artist...and if Elms are stating no more.. then this no doubt comes from Adam, not Elms.

Seriously Mike... he may not be doing anymore Giclee reproductions of work he's already created, but he's definitly working with prints in the future, whether these are engravings, screenprints, stone carved Lithos, woodblocks or whatever.. I guarantee it.

Dont agree Nu still well below the prices they were 6 weeks ago, I know the prints aren't your cuppa but for many if this info is correct then it represents the best time to buy.

To be honest I wasn't expecting anymore prints for a while seeing as they'd released 9 in one night.

Still all things being equal, the law of averages says that for every person happy with Neate's decision there'll be another that's hacked off.

ahh yer pretty darn close. they were always outta my range so i had to ditance myself from them. Sorta like when you see a wanker banker in a swish car and you want to hate the car cause you cant afford it.
I think his best print is deep end imho but still dont know if i'd put it up. The originals are stunning – not so much the street pieces – but the elms show stuff. No question they’re great.

Just a shame it happened when it did, I was enjoying the lower prices. Hopefully these prints will now be put on peoples walls and not used as a commodity :-(
