They were from the Shutdown Show and were to be given away as gifts if you bought a £5k ticket for the raffle. There are 50 of these. Each artist produced 50 small originals, these included Yeo, Insect, Micallef, and a few more I can't remember. when the raffle was cancelled they were sold at £1500 on a first come first served basis. Some are stronger than others but they are all nice pieces. This imo is a particularly fine example.

They were sold last year and at a low price of £1500 + vat.

I believe a few others were also offered to previous clients.

Just in case people are implying that this is their value today. That said this is just my opinion that they are worth considerably more.

They were available at the Newcastle re-opening / outsiders show. I'm sure there must be some photos kicking about on Flickr or whatever. One of them was very nice but sold on the opening night.

I wouldn't count on that Photoxtc. I think we might see quite a bit more work at this price point come November. I hope so anyway

Love Micallef's head studies...its a lucky person whoever buys this...if only my wallet were to stretch as far!

I see Afroken's point on price, as in the current climate it's pretty difficult to attribute a price to almost anything that isn't seen changing hands regularly. That said, some of these Mic' pieces I've seen have looked very good value at original cost imo and I would imagine it would be a very lucky buyer who persuades anyone to part with theirs for a similar price to what they paid. Never say never with 50 of them out there though I guess.

I'm not one for predicting who's work will be selling for what prices in the future (asI don't have the knowledge or experience to know where to begin), but a lot of Micallef's art seems to have a certain depth to it, which makes his style stand out from the crowd for me. Personally I think you're nuts to be selling this, but good luck finding the right deal.

It's hard to say but, but then again I've bought a couple similar size works on paper by very famous & accomplished artists (more so than Mic) for around the same price as these were sold at from source so take that for what you will... Laz price on this series seemed fair, but I wouldn't say a 'bargain.' I think perspectives are still skewed by the absurd and unsustainable mania of 07.

Love this MC. He's dark style is fantastic.
