Works fine, only thing is that the print will have contact with the actual frame. If you mounted first, the mount would touch the edge instead. As your room gets hot and cold if affects the temperature of the frame and can cause moisture to affect the print. If it's mounted it provides a barrier - the mount might get affected but the print won't.
On a positive tho you won't need to stick the print to a mount.
Depends on value of print and if you have it as an investment piece or just cos you love it.
My print looks cool framed to edge with no mount so am more than happy.

You would have to make sure it is completely moisture free, as any moisture in the paper could potentially over a long period stick to the glass. Maybe best to check the print periodically that it is sound.

I bought a Habitat frame and then a mount to go inside. With the mount in place the plastic rods that secure the back board no longer slide into the slots along the edges, as there is not enough room(because of the mount).
Has anyone had this problem and how did you deal with it?
