Any idea how much they were asking before the Bonham auction?

I know being the first to reply to my own post is poor forum form but i've got to!

I think the price is on the heavy side, and were probably available for 20% of this 2 weeks ago. however in a market that is seeing bristol tma edition of 99 being sold for £2,500 and moona /125 for £1000 i think the price is in the right region currently.

Anyone purchased one of these bad boys out of interest?

Thought $1500 was steep last October, so not sure then what I think of $6250.

I do not have a crystal ball so do not know whether a couple of months down the line $6250 will seem like a bargain or a expensive purchase.

Luckily I will not be buying for two reasons, do not have $6250 and if I did would be going after a London TMA and saving the rest for next TMA print.

The more I think about it, the more it feels like a gallery won the Bonham's canvas in order to inflate prices on Nick's work.

Whether we are talking conspiracy theory's here or not I dont know, but Nicks work had been creeping up in price very slowly for a few weeks ,ever since the London TMA, then Bonhams, and it goes stratespheric, I for one dont really care which way the price goes as I would like to think I will have the enjoyment for many years to come, although if I am totally honest I did think about selling them for just a few moments (have got London and Bristol) then realised I didnt buy them to make money, as at the time they werent worth much more than I paid for them, I think the people who are selling them now are making a mistake as these could represent the beginning of a new era for this artist,who could go down in art history on the same page as Banksy. or could be another five minute wonder. but then again what do I know.

I need to remind everyone that this in NOT a screen print. These are original acrylic paintings on paper. Nick utilized stencil and freehand painting of background and details. These are in no way prints.
Each piece, utilizes the base stencil and then worked by Nick.


As a note, these pieces will become collectors items. It is unlikely that Nick will utilize the stencil again. This was a personal piece that Nick felt strongly about doing. It is not a pop cultural emblem. That alone, makes this edition stand out.

this price includes shipping and all VAT/import taxes.

I heard his LA show was almost sold out even before the auction so maybe his popularity has really grown that much and the auction result just solidified it.

It was ,on the night of the auction there were about 4 pieces left, but what really gutted me was I was in contact to try and buy a picture before Bohams and the one I wanted was sold out ,at $6,500 , two days later I saw the same picture for sale on a gallery website and they were asking £20,000 for it.

I undertand, different tastes. The reason I asked if it was that particular one is because that's the only one I know of that was that specific price. No matter.

I know which piece you're referring to, I really liked that piece but didn't want to spring for $5K -- in retrospect that might not have been the best idea. I posted elsewhere on the forum the piece I got, it's a small one called "Sydney Study."

The one at $5k sold at the preview so you had to be there to get it.

Too true, been around for ever at ~$1,500 and no interest, now suddenly big interest I wonder why...........

Although TMA's especially London had been going up in price, other prints were stationary, e.g. you could pick up a Apish Angel at less than cost easily, now over £300.
