José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by craigf on Dec 5, 2009 20:08:44 GMT 1, Just got back from a day walking around, enjoying art and putting faces to names (good to meet you Sundowner, sorry for twisting your arm to buy two, but you know it makes sense )
The prints are fantastic, I intended just to get one, but ended up buying two as I couldn't pick my definite favourite and could have easily if wall space had been available gone for three.
Veralynn - would have been good to meet you, I'm sure there were a fair few forumites in the queue. Maybe next time we can arrange a forum post show drink or similar
Plus Carl if your reading hope you didn't get into too much trouble when you got back

This is the only other picture I took - to show my framer - that shows a little more detail. You can just about see how the screen print layer carries across the border.

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by curiousgeorge on Dec 5, 2009 20:14:20 GMT 1, Great prints, I thought St.Giles would have been 100 times better at the size of 184th street and vice versa
Veralynn is a very funny guy, with excellent dry wit(don't tell him though)

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by craigf on Dec 5, 2009 20:19:03 GMT 1, I think framing of the 184th street will be challenging if wanting to avoid ripples. The one they had was done by John Jones so top quality, but there were definite ripples along its length. Maybe the AP's had been tightly rolled, but if I'd paid for JJ money I'd have expected perfection ;D
Mine are probably going to Gary along with a couple of Banksy's that need to see the light of day soon ;D

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by robo on Dec 5, 2009 20:24:09 GMT 1, I didn't make it down today, but will get down there next week and sounds like prints will be left. Reading this thread, I have to say how great it is not to hear the usual terrible tales of carpetbaggers and their kids blagging queues to load armloads of prints destined for Ebay into the back of estate cars. There are some benefits to the changing market after all!

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by monkeyart on Dec 5, 2009 20:48:47 GMT 1, Just got back and it was all very civilized :-) I got there at dead on 12 and was inside by 10 past. The prints looked great!!! I had my heart set on buying the 184th street from the invite, but after seeing them in the flesh was really torn between the other two, in the end sent for St Giles, now kind off wishing I'd brought WTL aswell nevermind, can't wait to get this bad boy framed, nice offer of John Jones to offer 25% off the framing costs on these prints. I agree CG the dimensions would have been better the other way round, I also noticed the ripples on the 184th and thought that would annoy me, as I'm a bit anal :-). I had a wander over to POW and was really disappointed, bring back Santas Ghetto on TCR, much better vide imo. Anyway I had a good day!! Peace MA

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by G-Man on Dec 5, 2009 20:54:54 GMT 1, I picked up a World Touring Letter today, arrived at about 1115 and met a couple of other members in the queue.. good to meet ppl in the flesh.....
I knew which I was going for before going but was really pleased when I saw them, they are amazing prints if there are any left and you are on teh fence, take the plunge, you wont regret it
I did think that St Giles was the one that was most different to the images online, but the colours were not rich enough for me
Really pleased with my purchase
I'll put up a load of pics later

I noticed that on one of the pics posted earlier. Were they rolled when people bought them? If so wonder why they didn't pack them flat.

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by kingofprussia on Dec 5, 2009 23:22:10 GMT 1, wow. i'm stoked i ended up going with st. giles. that pic is soooooo much better than the one from elms on their site. i see some nice green in there. i can't wait to see it in the flesh and am so thankful that jose asked elms to put aside some for his international fans.

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by Happy Shopper on Dec 6, 2009 0:50:00 GMT 1, Went down today. Loved these prints, but not enough to buy one. Would have been good if the screened text was more glossy and/or translucent. All a bit too subtle really!

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by Sundowner on Dec 6, 2009 1:39:42 GMT 1, Wow...that WTL looks amazing If anyone has detailed pics of 184th St, PLEASE post them. I've got one coming and I'm trying to shake the post-purchase anxiety of not picking WTL.
Don't worry cardiff, you won't be disappointed! 184th St. was my first choice and WTL was my least favourite of the three (and they are all superb) as I think personally Parla's work looks better in a landscape format.

It's a cracking piece. I noticed that on one of the pics posted earlier. Were they rolled when people bought them? If so wonder why they didn't pack them flat.
