José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by speebe on Nov 24, 2009 23:09:43 GMT 1, What's not to like...
If I was buying I would want to see them all in person first, and would like to sit with them all for a while before feeling the need to make my selection.
It's out of the question though, as I can't justify dropping that much cash prior to X-mas, which is a real shame as I think they're all magnificent. Alas it's not to be, and I doubt they'll hang around long enough for me to work something out.
If they'd been priced at £500, it would be easier to negotiate both funds & my lovely wife.
As for print quality... I've no doubt that the prints will have real sense of depth, detail and texture, if they're anything like the Neate prints. Receiving the pack from the Elms was a real treat but it doesn't do the prints justice. The scale of the prints will help too.... you want the wall filled so you can immerse yourself in the image.

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by displaced bear on Nov 25, 2009 13:49:10 GMT 1, i prefer the warmth of world touring letter and one eighty fourth street over st. giles. i'd love to have them all. but think i may just go for wtl and 184th. wonder if i should reach into the holiday funds. or wait till a later date to purchase. does everyone really believe these will be sticking around for a while?

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by smallbylo on Nov 25, 2009 14:07:18 GMT 1, 300 prints by a non-print Artist loved and exhibited around the world. People here thinking about getting maybe two, maybe the set.... I don't think they are going to be available for a long time. Maybe less than a couple of days... December 5th will be a busy night...

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by topper007 on Nov 25, 2009 17:46:23 GMT 1, St. Giles for me.
No objections here to the pricing despite edition size. The point already made about what would happen if these were sold for an artificially low price (as practised by Those Who May Not Be Criticised) is spot on IMO.
I also think these will still sell out - maybe not on the release date but they will sell out - and by which I mean a genuine all gone and none to mysteriously re-appear later from behind the gallery's sofa.
Slight problem is my self imposed prints fatwa which has been in place this year - the financial benefit of which has allowed originals to be purchased instead. That and the fact we've just booked a pretty pricey ski holiday in the States for next March means I think some discipline will have to be applied here.
They do look nice though.........

you'd think there was something wrong with Banksy selling prints at a price that makes them available to people who wouldn't be able to afford +£500 prices

Well as keysersoze said earlier in the thread, "if you don't think they enjoy/benefit from the hype of doing so - then you should think about it harder" - couldn't have put it better.
I appreciate the affordability point made but I still think if something (and it needn't be artworks) is sold for say £350/400 and it sells on weeks or even days later for several times that, something is wrong.

At the end of the day it's availabe to a larger number of people, if those ppl choose to sell it on and by doing so get black listed what's the problem? The point is street art is not an elitist club pandering to the wallets of the middle and upper classes it's for all - the argument that a low price point keeps interest high whilst a high price point makes sure only the real fan purchases is not seeing all the facts at all

Nothing wrong with Banksy selling at below market value, if he sold them at market value less people would rush to buy them. Don't get me wrong they would still sell out but Banksy selling at below cost plays into flippers hands. In Parla's case if you like these prints anyone who want's one can afford it. Come on! anyone with a job can afford £800, worse case scenario bang it on your credit card and slowly pay it back. If you want this print to be cheap it's probably to make future profit.
Edit: The last point I make above is not directed at nex
