In any case, was never much of a fan UNTIL this show. I always wondered with her "credentials" why shes not cutting it. I believe shes focused now and I'm a firm believer that she will explode in relevance.

At 6pm on Sunday, April 20th, the last day of our Brick Ladies of NYC exhibition, Lady Pink & AIKO will be giving an intimate talk about their show here at Ad Hoc Art and the process of working together on this project. Panel Discussion Series: Envisioning Japan
In celebration of the Brooklyn Museum's exhibitions ยฉMURAKAMI and Utagawa: Masters of the Japanese Print, 1700-1900, this discussion series explores common themes informing Japanese art and artists, past and present, on both sides of the Pacific. The three panels feature a dynamic mix of prominent scholars, curators, artists and cultural theorists. AIKO will take part in the following panel discussion.
Saturday, May 17, 2-4 p.m.
Envisioning Japan: Creative Dialogues with the Wider World
Panelists will discuss the intermingling of the Japanese and international art-worlds and art-markets since "the opening of Japan" to the West in 1852, and the varied ways in which Japanese artists have created a unique space for their work that is simultaneously Japanese and international.
Moderated by Joan Cummins, Curator of Asian Art, Brooklyn Museum. With Adam Kern, author of Manga from the Floating World: Comicbook Culture and the Kibyoshi of Edo Japan, Ikumi Kaminishi, Associate Professor of Art and Art History at Tufts University, Miwako Tezuka, Asia Society Assistant Curator, and artist Aiko Nakagawa.
