Nick Walker show, Who will be buying a canvas?, by Neate Michael on Apr 15, 2008 15:41:23 GMT 1, I don't know about you guys but if I had of wanted a Nick Walker canvas I would probably have emailed BRP ages ago and told them that, and see what they had to say... If you were nice it would be possible they would try and help you out...
As it is, I don't have 3.5k let alone 30k, so I emailed nobody. Ever.

i agree that friends and that should be allowed in early, people who have helped the gallery ect ... but just because u have a bit of cash shouldnt allow u to jump the que, it kinda goes against the whole principle of street art

Nick Walker show, Who will be buying a canvas?, by romanywg on Apr 15, 2008 16:05:02 GMT 1, When have you EVER been to an opening when the majority has not been sold before hand? I went to the preview, preview of the Shepard Fairey show and that had already sold out! Galleries have their 'good' customers to look after.

romanywg I agree mate, but thats also my point how do you get to be a good customer if you never get the oppotunity to buy?

Contact the gallery well before the show... pester, talk, talk more, ask to be on the pre-preview list, pester some more, join the waiting list, talk more... etc

Nick Walker show, Who will be buying a canvas?, by fatherxmas on Apr 15, 2008 16:43:17 GMT 1, It just like ordering cars (Ferrari/lamborghini etc etc) Dealers have a list of clients who buy every year. If its your first ferrari, there not going to let you order a enzo just say (And these were flipped fro double the price) 350k profit nice regular business/money talks. The way of life. Back to cars, you want a car that no one has you pay a premium hence the going rate for a Aston Martin DBS is 20k over list

...that would make sense and I appreciate that however their isnt 1 lambo or 1 ferrari theres hundreds and you can buy one when ever you want if you have the cash.
If you like a specific walker canvas its a one off - if its the one you like but someone has already been there 2 days earlier to buy it, your not going to be able to get another as it doesnt exist. Taking your analogy further if I wanted to buy a ferrari I could get one today for a premium or put my name on a 2 year waiting list. I cant do that if I would want a specific canvas albeit I could get something similar...maybe.
I am not questioning the economics of it just how to be in a position to be in the position if you get what I mean???
