You reckon?!!! His tactics are very very unorthadox to say the least. Lee Dixon knows his stuff better and should be a permanant fixture on MOTD.

Football - Who going down?, by slowmo on May 24, 2009 12:53:20 GMT 1, For the simple reason that I cannot stand the thought of massively overweight, topless men crying on national television, I hope that Newcastle stay up. But I fully expect Villa to win today, they make a bit of extra revenue for 5th and want to improve on last season, plus Everton stand no chance at Fulham as we always lose at Craven Cottage

I would love to see the Geordies going down but i have a feeling they will pull it off. But i can't wait to see it if they do go down, sobbing men in the streets. On the football front, Millwall have 50,000 fans in wembley, there winning 2-1! Im not looking forward to my trip home from work should they have won. Carnage!

Have to agree with argiebaji too. Hodgson has done a superb job with a group of pretty average players and deserves praise imo.

Well, I've always thought so and you're clearly going to be biased on the subject! They seem to be under the impression that dominating a catchment area of the NE of England entitles them to some type of success and big club status, but success should be measured in silverware and league position alone imo. We all know the roll that footbal plays in popular culture, especially in areas like the NE, but ultimately, Newcastle, other than one inspirational season (when they still won nothing), haven't has any silverware in donkey's years. FWIW, although I wished them the worst going into today's fixtures, the PL will no doubt benefit when they come back a stronger and more unified club than we saw this season.
Just as their relegation was well-earned I have little doubt that the same will be true of promotion next season or the one after. It could so easily have been my side (Spurs) in this position! Thank f*ck we got a proper manager in early enough and gave him time and money to steady the ship, otherwise it could quite easily be our fans taking the stick (without doubt the 2nd most delusional group of fans in the Premier league - oops, better make that 1st !!!).

Football - Who going down?, by slowmo on May 24, 2009 19:23:47 GMT 1, Massive debts and a chairman who wants to sell watching his own business interests dive bomb suggest to me you won't be seeing Newcastle back for a very long time, Leeds and Ridsdale was in my head a long time before relegation, no real youth team focus, they are in big big trouble in the championship already.
Should they not find a summer buyer to oust Ashley, I worry about their championship future (BTW Shearer? Don't make the mistake twice of keeping a pundit in charge)
