AVAM GRANT, by Heavyconsumer on May 24, 2008 21:18:17 GMT 1, To be fair, I didn't rate him for his in-game tactics and especially the way he managed the CC final, but I can't see how they can sack him after their overall performance under him in the league and the CL. Especially when a better team beat them by a whisker for both. Sad state of affairs when a club gets to their first ever CL final and thanks the manager by sacking him.

AVAM GRANT, by alsbabar on May 24, 2008 21:56:02 GMT 1, such a shame, he seemed like such a nice guy, that is unfortunately the chelsea way - he inherited moanrinho's team, got to the final, which is more than moanrinho, gets the sack because terry bottled it - if i were a chelsea supporter I would be worried, that no stabiliity is in the club, and that player power rulesn - and they make snap decisions like this

AVAM GRANT, by mikaeljacko on May 24, 2008 22:18:24 GMT 1, rumours today that mourinho is coming back!!?
good luck to them, the fans don't seem to be too fussed by the instibility so why on earth should anyone outside the club care?
you tend to get what you deserve in life, if you live your life like a bunch of arrogant arseholes then you will get bitten, nature's justice of you will.

AVAM GRANT, by Zippy on May 24, 2008 23:33:56 GMT 1, some of you seem a little naive over this matter.
Avram and Abramovitch are old mates. Abramovitch asked his friend to help him out for a few months after Moaningrinhio left. Abramovitch has been picking the team by fax. Avram was never going to keep the job past this season - WHATEVER happened. Avram will receive a rumoured 2 million for helping his mate out.

AVAM GRANT, by Heavyconsumer on May 25, 2008 0:58:28 GMT 1, Zippy, I have no problem with being called naive, but your "facts" are fancifull, boardering on total fiction, bar the first. Please would you provide some credible references/sources for this information? Especially, Roman picking the team, Grant losing his job if he won the CL and while you're at it, please explain to those of us too stupid to understand, why he was given a contract AFTER a successful first couple of months in the job, rather than before he started, when they had not planned on him being there next season anyway? And by the way, I read the payoff was to be ยฃ5.2m, but I doubt that the figures floating around are anything more than guesses, based on the value of his contract.

Personally I didn't think that much of him (how do you fail to do well with that amount of money backing you, just look at who didn't even make the field last week!)

The season could have very easily gone the other way for them, he stepped into Mourinho's shoes and in did a more than admirable job. He's been, unsurprisingly treated like shit by Chelsea, who have now set a precedent that if the manager doesn't win the league or CL they're gone...

Chelsea is a club about buying success, no trophies, no job... all this from the third biggest club in London...

The passed decade in football its been a case of sacking manager after manager with every premership club. Man uniteds success didnt come over night, fergie has been there for 22 yrs. i do truely beleive jose could be back as he's rumoured to be on talking terms again with roman and had 3 secret meetings. but i dont know if anyone noticed but avram chucked his medal into the crowd and a friend of mine...His boss caught it..Lucky fukkkker..One of the main boys are laing o rourke.. even tho we did lose, it was a great atmosphere over in moscow and personally i think we deserved to win.. penaltys is a hard way to lose out...

money can only buy you a limited amount of success at club. Madrid, AC Milan have all tried it in the past and failed...

AVAM GRANT, by veralynn on May 25, 2008 18:42:37 GMT 1, My take on this is that given the spending power of Roman, no one's ever going to be good enough. I felt for John Terry as he is a class act and composes himself superbly, shame about the shambles that is Drogba, 100K a week and you go around slapping people on the highest stage.
I'm pleased that the Mancs won, they deserved it, how Ryan Giggs hasn't been honoured I don't know - consumate professional. Mr Ferguson, stood the test of time at the highest level.
Now watch out for Stockport County!

he probably only stepped up to take that pen because he wanted all the glory. should never have been England captain. has sullied that roles prestige.
