OT: Tevez's Mum Visits Him Training at Carrington, by Prescription Art on Nov 19, 2008 13:07:36 GMT 1, Indisputably the greatest footballer of all time.
He joined a team the equivalent of Southampton, then won them two Serie A championships, the Italian Cup & the UEFA cup (when it meant something).
He won the 1986 World Cup single-handedly (ahem)
The greatest photo ever taken:

OT: Tevez's Mum Visits Him Training at Carrington, by Prescription Art on Nov 19, 2008 13:23:15 GMT 1, Obviously Pele was a bit before my time, but I think Maradona was a far better player.
Mike, I will never understand how you can actively revel in England losing.

From what I've seen of them I'd rank Best above Pele - I think Pele is lucky to get in the top 3, Cruyff could have easily beaten him...
If I was having a best goalscorer ever list I'd have Pele top - but best all round footballer...

OT: Tevez's Mum Visits Him Training at Carrington, by bert on Nov 19, 2008 13:32:42 GMT 1, Still can't believe Shilton could only jump that high...
Greatest player is an impossible debate. For my money it would be between Pele (for his goals, achievements and how ahead of his time he was) and Maradonna (for his skill and ability to influence the results of his team), but I can't really decide between them. If it wasn't for his injuries, I reckon Ronaldo might have had a shot to be up there with them.

The major issue with having Pele above Maradona is that while Pele won 3 out of the 4 world cups he played in he was in the best squad for them by a way. He actually didn't have a great tournament in 1962. Apart from that he won 6 out of 18 Championships for Santos - think the Man United of Brazil. The fact he was never tested outside the Brazilian League means that to me he cannot stand up against Maradona who like PA said took a team the equivalent of Southampton (if that) in the Italian League to two League Championships.
