I had to laugh today when Big Sam ruled himself out, as if the FA would want him.

Next England manager?, by jboy on Nov 23, 2007 0:54:56 GMT 1, Think about it like this.
O'neill has only really just become manager at villa, loves club football and is doing well but can still do more. The F.A also snubbed him last time as he was too expensive and had family issues. I dont even know why he is favourite.
Redknapp is set at portsmouth.
Neither of those managers who are respected in UK football will want to get involved for fear of it damaging their careers.
Capello - has won league titles, champions league titles and cup titles and is a free agent. He also has an awesome reputation, is harsh like maurinho and also has alot of respect in football. And i repeat again, he will be an easy target as he is a free agent.
In my mind - there is only one choice here, dont take any notice of bookies putting o'neill and redknapp as favourites with reasonable odds, this is to rip you off.
Capello also has expressed interest in the English game and the English team before and has said again today he is very interested.

Good call on Ian Wright, and what's the betting Mourinho ends up at Anfield in the summer if RB doesn't deliver this season?

Good call on Ian Wright, and what's the betting Mourinho ends up at Anfield in the summer if RB doesn't deliver this season? Supposedly the Glaziers are already getting fed up with Rafa. I know the kop has always been loyal to managers and Rafa did deliver the Champions League nearly two years running but we need league success to shut Man u and Arsenal up

Passionate as fuck but without the slightest trace of tactical knowledge? That's not what we need at all. But I suppose better than dull as fuck without the slightest trace of tactical knowledge - step forward Mr Alan Shearer.

I would have been quids in, and he would have been a great manager. Kick the English team into some shape. This time....not too fussed at the moment, still gutted after being knocked out.

Ha, you made the mistake of betting on the best guy for the job, and not the guy who'd been licking FA arse for quite some time. Hmm, go for the guy who's won the World cup, or the guy who's won the League cup. Obvious really......

Next England manager?, by headphonesex on Nov 26, 2007 15:49:12 GMT 1, I don't see the point in appointing a full time manager now, without a competitive game for 2 years (?)
We need a caretaker in charge until after next year's European Championships, when all the international managers swap around as usual.
Until then I agree that Brooking would be a good choice... however I think my favourite would be Gary Johnson - currently at Bristol City.
I think this article yesterday made my mind up... The best English manager of his generation they call him, and having seen the way his Yeovil and Bristol City teams play football i think he'd be a fantastic choice for England.
