The Best Film Ever, by Warm Gun on Feb 8, 2012 18:09:08 GMT 1, Caught DRIVE on Saturday night and HANNA last night. Both recommended.
I watched Drive a few weeks ago, I really enjoyed it, very cool and edgy with lots of violence if that's what ya like.

The Best Film Ever, by iamzero on Feb 8, 2012 18:30:30 GMT 1, I'd struggle with top 10 ten too but for British films anything by Shane Meadows especially Dead Mans Shoes and Room For Romeo Brass along with Snatch or Lock Stock...
Off the top of my head Vanilla Sky is just genius but I can't believe no one has mentioned Chasing Amy by Kevin Smith... If you haven't seen this then DO IT NOW.
Beat Street, Breakdance and Wildstyle anyone? Ozone... Streetdancer.

The Best Film Ever, by gibbin82 on May 8, 2012 21:54:30 GMT 1, Film review: The Raid
I went to see a preview showing tonight of the Welsh directed Indonesian film The Raid and WOW! it was one of the most remarkable films I have seen in a long time, I can't ever remember being in a cinema and witnessing such loud choruses of gasps from the audience that could be heard during some of the most shocking pieces of violence on the screen. Not being a Matial Arts film fan this shouldn't have been the sort of film I normally would have enjoyed, but it was 90 minutes of the most frantic, violent, brutal, incredibly filmed and beautifully coriographed pieces of action I have ever seen and as such enjoyable from start to finish. I am pretty sure this will set a new benchmark for Matial Arts films, that producers and directors will be trying reproduce in their films for years. Extradordinary stunt and fight sequences and nonstop excitement, but beware if you are the slightest bit squeamish this may be the most violent movie You have ever seen.
In my opinion this will go down along side such classics as The Exorcist and A Clockwork Orange, go and see it and be prepared to be shocked.

The Best Film Ever, by Deleted on May 22, 2012 12:49:27 GMT 1, Not even being made yet, but, I nearly wet myself when I saw this - Kill Bill 3, it's coming...
Still hoping the "official" directors cut of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair - QT's original vision for the film as a 5 hour epic, complete with the full Anime introduction to O-Ren Ishii will get released at some point. With Kill Bill 3 in the pipeline, Kill Bill - TWBA might even get a cinema release. Fingers crossed for that...
And in the meantime, we have Django Unchained coming this December for a QT fix.
* excited *
PS. You can download some good fan edits of Kill Bill TWBA from a well known bay where pirates hang out

The Best Film Ever, by Hubble Bubble on Feb 7, 2013 9:24:22 GMT 1, Been seeing a few movies recently as it's Oscar season. Some brief reviews (IMHO):
The Hobbit - funny, action-packed and better than I'd thought it might be. Lord of The Rings Lite
Django Unchained - Vintage Tarantino hashes up period tale with modern slang and eclectic soundtrack. Wild, fun, all over the place but essentially the work of a true genius
Amour - Haneke on form. Spare, achingly sad portrayal of elderly love and loss. Tough to watch but beautifully played.
Les Miserables - Simply stunning. Greater than the sum of its parts. Cinema as a moving and entirely unique experience. Incomparable with its sister stage show. Jackman works wonders carrying the thing.
Zero Dark Thirty - Underwhelming. Interesting but The Hurt Locker, it ain't.
Jagten (The Hunt) - Stunning Danish movie about the consequences of false accusations of child abuse and a community in freefall. Fabulous performance by Mads Mikkelsen - rightly awarded by a best actor gong at Cannes last year and criminally overlooked by the Oscars. My pick (along with Les Mis) of the movies I've seen so far this year.
Lincoln - Daniel Day Lewis is nailed on for the Best Actor Oscar. A portrayal of wonderful depth and clarity in a movie which is slow but never less than interesting. Restrained Spielberg.
Argo - Saw this on its release. Justifiably feted for the Oscars. Affleck is a supremely confident and talented director (Gone Baby Gone, The Town). A new Eastwood for his generation. Despite us knowing the outcome, the story is funny, slick and - in its final act - never less than excruciatingly tense.
Beasts of The Southern Wild - A rare gem of an American Indie that reminds us of American Cinema's power to storytell. Essentially a fable/fairy tale. Stand out performances from its young (nominated) star and her on screen father.
That's it for now... hope these are of interest. No doubt many will disagree, so not looking for a review-fight... just putting stuff out there. Enjoy the movies... it's the greatest Oscar season I can remember.
