The Best Film Ever, by brut on Jul 29, 2007 21:20:53 GMT 1, I've been into asian cinema for about 5 years now & there are some real gems out there. If you are looking for a bonkers film to watch then nothing beats ICHI THE KILLER.The film is directed by Takashi Miike & it is a ultra violent reworking of the manga comic of the same name.Basically it is a battle between the ultimate sadist & the ultimate masochist. If you have got a few mates round with a few beers then this is the film that they will talk about for days afterwards. But the film i would highly reccomend is Park Chan-Wook's OLDBOY. This film broke the mould for asian films & rearly showed american films a thing or two about making a stylish revenge thriller. The storyline oozes class as does the cinematogrophy & acting. The storyline is of a man who was imprisoned for 15 years & he does not know why.He only has a tv in his room to keep track of the world's events & time as it goes by. One day he is released & he wants answers. This film won the Grand jury prize at cannes in 2004. This film will amaze you & i cannot reccomend it highly enougth. Both films can easily be found at play.com,HMV,amazon & cdwow.

The Best Film Ever, by brut on Jul 29, 2007 21:41:01 GMT 1, Hi pelle. I think the list is endless when it comes to Takashi Miike films as he has made some real gems. Audition cranks the 'bunny boiler' role way off the scale & if you have ever wanted to watch a musical black comedy about a family trying to run a hotel whilst trying to hide a invasion of zombies then the Happiness of the katakuris is the film for you!

The Best Film Ever, by pelle on Jul 30, 2007 6:47:45 GMT 1, I thought the happiness of the katakuris was ok, but I actually liked the original Korean version better (I think it's called The Quiet Family). There's no singing and dancing in that one, but it's still funny
Then again, being over the top is often what Miike is all about

Oh and watched Little Miss Sunshine last night - absolutely brilliant. The kid in it wears an Obey T-shirt for much of the film as well.
