Must admit the story of Thomas Turgoose, might have made me slightly biased

Good taste!
Mine would be (as above, apart from Big and I am legend) plus Anchorman, Top Gun, Thomas Crown Affair, Gladiator, Taxi (and Taxi Deux for that matter), Withnail and I and Castaway

My personal favourite is "Jeff wode is feeling better and is ready to start tossing his orb about. Look at him look at Jeff wode, his head must weigh 50 pounds on its own. Imagine the size of his balls, imagine getting into a fight! with the fucker!

It's well acted and directed, but it's formulaic and bland... it's hugely easy to know what's coming up and it drags its feet getting there. It's not like I'm complaining because it goes nowhere, some of my favourite films don't go anywhere, but this doesn't do it with anything gripping at all. It's very, very boring. The whole film could have been condensed into a 30 minute tv episode without losing anything.
Compared to other English modern greats, Trainspotting, Dead Man's Shoes etc this isn't even in the same league, nor is it even a couple of leagues below.

I honestly don't think I laughed once. Maybe I missed something in it, or maybe it's just people's humour. I piss myself laughing at films that don't raise a smile from other people... this one though I just didn't get

The Best Film Ever, by artngigs on May 18, 2008 14:41:05 GMT 1, I understand where you're coming from because I don't usually enjoy Will Ferrell or someone like Adam Sandler but Anchorman is the only one of Ferrell's films I like.
Someone who I don't want to like is Ben Stiller but Dodgeball and Starsky & Hutch are v funny.

Agree on the Requiem for a Dream - saw this after a very late night out. Whilst brilliant not the best film to watch when you're feeling fragile!

Exactly the same here. Of the 4 or 5 of us who started watching it only two of us saw it out ;D

At least you had company, whereas I was at the time in my flat on my own - and was in that situation of laugh or cry!

What really helped watching the film was the prickly crawly skin feeling I had as a result of the previous nights exploits. If ever I wanted to "empathise" with characters in a film then I managed it!
