The Best Film Ever, by jimbobsquarepants on May 18, 2008 19:25:52 GMT 1, Agree with the This Is England opnions - rubbish compared to Shane Meadows usual stuff but soundtrack saved it slightly. My favourite film of all time though is A Room For Romeo Brass - underated and a top soundtrack too.
Have to say that I've watched Mulholland Drive 3 times now and I am still none the wiser as to what the bloody hell it's all about. Just went above my head but I am Jimmy Krankie.

But if you like duelling banjoes and guitar hero check this out.
Don't know how these teckies do this but you have to be an inbred with ten fingers on each hand to do it.

The Best Film Ever, by bennyhedgehog on May 20, 2008 1:44:39 GMT 1, Did someone ask for some Asian ones?
Tampopo... superb film, vegetarian and vegans should steer clear but simply brilliant for everyone else and even some veggies frankly.
Don't think I can come up with a single "best film"... should be able to whittle it down to a top ten, so long as I could have a series of top ten's... Top Ten Thriller, Action, Comedy and so on...
You gotta go a long way to beat Apocalypse Now, Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, Deer Hunter, both Godfathers, Star Wars, Jaws... bah, its started already and this is just a little bit of the 70's... can't decide!
Tampopo is definitely worth a look though... might be tricky to track down but it is out there on DVD... I'm sure loads of you guys will love it...
Another hidden gem, which I'm sure a lot of you have already seen but many will not have is "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead" - Tom Stoppard directing Gary Oldman and Tim Roth at the height of their powers... it is unmissable, hilarious, bright and in parts utterly inspired and inspiring.

The Best Film Ever, by EdgeArt on Sept 4, 2008 16:34:30 GMT 1, Can't remember if I mentioned it earlier, but Man On The Moon is very good. Saw No Country For Old Men the other week and thought it was fantastic, really, really good.
On the other hand I watched There Will Be Blood - total guff... stick yer fucking milkshake up yer arse... waste of however long it bored me for

The Best Film Ever, by Deleted on Oct 13, 2008 17:03:22 GMT 1, I'm going to do the near impossible and make myself choose just one, which I think everyone should do.
Mean Streets
(and Babylon and Raging Bull and the one I watch with my daughter, My Neighbour Totoro, and The Man with Two brains, and Godfather Part 2, and Sexy Beast and ....... )
There should be an alternative thread for worst film ever and I can only think of one right now
This is England

Who can recommend a good Horror, nothing vile like Saw, something like the ring. And i love the start of scream, the bit with Drew Barrymore. That was a great start to a movie.
