The Best Film Ever, by Standard on Oct 26, 2008 20:17:20 GMT 1, Goodfellas, Godfather 1,2,&3, Rumbelfish, Schindlers List, Pans Labyrinth, One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, The Deerhunter and for absolute pure amusement............ 'True Romance' - I have never seen a better scene in any film than the one with Christopher Walken (aka Vincenzo Coccotti) and the Scicilian speech, just before he blows Dennis Hoopers head off (aka Clifford Worley) - "now tell me, am I lying?" ;D Great Movie - not only for the highlighted scene below...... a classic surely.

The Best Film Ever, by junta on Aug 17, 2009 0:06:13 GMT 1, Requiem for a Dream. Not very well known (except for the soundtrack), and a bit unnerving but very poignant and a film everyone should see once. linkys- www.watch-movies-links.net/movies/requiem_for_a_dream/

The Best Film Ever, by notworthit on Aug 17, 2009 1:49:32 GMT 1, Can't believe no-one's mentioned 'Style Wars'
"Rustoleum, Krylon, Wet-Look, Epoxy, Red Devil... When you got a can of Rustoleum in your hand, it's like holding three other s**t brands in your hand. " Seen
Dear Zachary - A letter to a son about his father. Don't google it, just rent and watch it - best watched if you don't know what it's about. - Best documentary I've ever seen, absolutely jaw dropping and heart wrenching. I defy anyone not to cry.
The Assassination of Jesse James by The Coward Robert Ford - beautifully shot and casey affleck's amazing in it.
Irréversible - Absolutely horrific, shot in reverse chronological order, directed by gaspar noe with music by thomas bangalter (composed to make the viewer feel sick). Vince Cassel (la haine) and monica belluci (most beautiful woman on earth) Very hard to watch.
Cool Hand Luke - what we have here is a failure to communicate
Very Bad Things - Hilarious
Funny Games (US) - Mental!
Sorry, that was meant to be one i know.

The Best Film Ever, by notworthit on Nov 19, 2009 2:28:22 GMT 1, watched ireversible again yesterday as it happens. Absolutely stunning film, but be prepared it's hard to watch. Everything about it is made to be as disconcerting to the viewer as possible from the opening swirling camerawork, to the music, designed by Thomas Bangelter and intended to make the viewer feel sick. This is definitely one to watch, but you might not want to watch it again.

Agree with you, a film that puts us in a very uncomfortable position and keeps asking why are you watching, i couldn't watch it all the way through first time it took a few goes before i could , i did have a break. A must see film, the sound in the first half hour and the camara work are something to enjoy or is it endure, I love it, will always be in my OCD top 10
la haine is a great movie also.
