i grew up in hawaii. in 1975, Paul McCartney(w/linda and kids) rented the house next to mine, for 2 months. on his last day, i finally got the nerve Io go over, and i took all the Beatles records with me. i asked him to sign , what he felt was the best Beatles album... he signed Revolver.

Hey Michael - that is one wicked story dude! Love it. +1. This album runs right through my veins.  Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys comes second. In fact I will be listening to both of them 'with some volume' today

It would have to be David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars. Which is also the first album that I ever bought when it first came out.

I totally agree. For me the Beatles' Revolver album was always lying around somewhere when I was a kid. I was transfixed by the cover. My uncle had a poster of it in his room and mum was always singing Beatles songs - still does. It always brings us closer when have a sing song; usually the more poppy Beatles stuff though.
I also used to revel in my uncle's record collection (which has no doubt made me the vinyl junkie that I am today). I used to be fascinated by the cover art by Crass and Dead Kennedys etc.
The first album I ever bought was Prince Charming by Adam and the Ants! ;D I used to run around the house like a banshee with a fucking white strip across my face brandishing one of my mum's treasured Red Indian tomahawks driving everyone insane singing 'a new royal family a wild nobility - we are the family'!! ;D
That all stopped when I nearly scalped my lil bro for chewing the wheels off my Starsky and Hutch matchbox car and snapping the heads off some of my Nottingham Forest subbuteo team!  (The kit with the pinstipes)  I just had to resort to waving my arms around instead. ;D

My mate Lee had a huge back patch on his jacket with the old 'Ant Music for Sex People' on it. His mum sewed it on for him and went over 'sex' with black marker pen! ;D ;D
Me and Lee went to a football disco dressed as Adam Ant with crosses on our temples and dusters nicked from my mum's cupboard hanging out of our pants! ;D Safe to say, we didn't pull that night.
